Nanny Disney to Ban Junk Food Advertising on TV

Disney will ban junk food advertising on their TV shows. They are also reducing sodium in the food sold at their theme parks. This follows Mayor Bloomberg (Doomberg) of NYC banning the sale of sugary drinks larger than 16 ounces.

I guess we know how Disney would vote on the Rights of the Child Treaty (which gives a global government supervision of our children).

This ban is going to cost sellers a lot of money.

It is the direct result of the nanny government looking to acquire more control over our diets.

I’m thin, my children are thin. We eat healthy. I want and deserve access to junk food. I don’t like the way this anti-sugar movement is going.

The manager of my local supermarket changed the food in the cookie aisle to health food garbage. I am going to boycott them. I don’t want my junk food to taste like cardboard; I want it sugary and buttery.

The behavioral economics experts Richard Thaler, a University of Chicago professor, and Cass Sunstein, the administrator of the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs want to “nudge” us into eating healthy. (USA Today)

Do you want Cass Sunstein or U of C professors nudging you into doing anything?

The government never cared before Obamacare but now the government wants control of our healthcare because it costs them money (correction, our money which they think is their money).

According to the Center for Disease and Control and Prevention, “during the past 20 years, there has been a dramatic increase in obesity in the United States and rates remain high. More than one-third of U.S. adults (35.7%) and approximately 17% (or 12.5 million) of children and adolescents aged 2—19 years are obese.”

Parents need to watch their childrens’ diets but that is the right of parents, not the government. Click here to check on your child’s BMI.

Oddly, the increase in food stamps correlates with the increase in obesity.

Forty-two percent of low-income women in the United States are obese, and the rate of obesity is even higher among women who participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program — formerly the food stamp program. (NY Times)

USA Today reports that “the real next frontier in the war on obesity should be the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or “food stamps.” Some 38 million people — one in eight Americans — rely on this program, up from one in 50 in the 1970s…as the program has grown, so has the percentage of Americans who are obese — from 13% in the early 1960s to about 35%.”

According to Science Daily, the Ohio University study found that people’s BMI increased faster when they were on food stamps than when they were not, and increased more the longer they were in the program.

“We can’t prove that the Food Stamp Program causes weight gain, but this study suggests a strong linkage,” said Jay Zagorsky, co-author of the study and a research scientist at Ohio State University’s Center for Human Resource Research.

Michelle Obama tried to say there were food deserts in ghettos, i.e. supermarkets that did not carry enough healthy food. That theory has been debunked.

It is more likely that food stamps are hazardous to your health. I’m sure that within the next few weeks, Mayor Doomberg of NYC will ask for a ban on commercials promoting the food stamp program.

Quote of the Week

"It's time for a new beginning, for an end to government of the few, by the few and for the few, time to reject the idea of an "on your own" society and to replace it with shared responsibility for shared prosperity. I prefer a "we're all in it together" society.

Now, there is no greater force for economic growth than free markets, but markets work best with rules that promote our values, protect our workers and give all people a chance to succeed. (We) ....can't just let business as usual go on, and that means something has to be taken away from some people."
