Members of Punk Rock Band Who Were Found Guilty
Update: 8/17:12 5:15 PM: The three punk rockers were sentenced to two years in jail for a religious hate crime. Sadly, most Russians disagree with the band’s actions and do not seem to be as concerned about their free speech as an American would be.

Three members of the punk rock band Pussy Riot were found guilty today on charges of hooliganism, Russia’s state-run RIA Novosti news agency reports.
The three women were brought to trial after they performed a song critical of President Vladimir Putin in a cathedral in Moscow.
Performing inside the church was the excuse used by the state and the judge for finding them guilty.
So you know, in Russia, the church acts in unison with Putin.
CBS/AP) MOSCOW – A Russian judge found three members of the provocative punk band Pussy Riot guilty of hooliganism on Friday, in one of the most closely watched cases in recent Russian history.
The judge said the three band members committed hooliganism driven by religious hatred and offending religious believers.
The three were arrested in March after a guerrilla performance in Moscow’s main cathedral in February calling for the Virgin Mary to protect Russia against Vladimir Putin, who was elected to a new term as Russia’s president a few days later.
They face a maximum seven years in prison. The sentence is to be handed down later Friday…
