DHS Throws Out the Freebies Welcome Mat to Immigrants

In the past, immigrants were expected to have a job waiting for them when they came here though there were exceptions such as those granted political asylum. As far back in the mid-1800′s, immigrants had to have a sponsor who would be responsible for their care and a job. That all began to change under JFK who asked for a color and nationality blind immigration policy, and rightfully so.

He suggested three basic criteria for admission of immigrants to the United States 1) the skill of the individual immigrant 2) the reunification of families, and 3) priority of registration first come, first served.

They no longer needed a job waiting.

John F. Kennedy suggested a modest increase in the annual immigration quota that then stood at 156,700.3

But Lyndon Baines Johnson, on the other hand, clearly used his Great Society to give preference to non-Europeans who were poor and uneducated. It forever changed the makeup of our country.

He sought and won the passage of the Immigration Act of 1965, which substantially changed U.S. immigration policy toward non-Europeans. According to OECD, “While European-born immigrants accounted for nearly 60% of the total foreign-born population in 1970, they accounted for only 15% in 2000.” Immigration doubled between 1965 and 1970, and doubled again between 1970 and 1990. Since the liberalization of immigration policy in 1965, the number of first-generation immigrants living in the United States has quadrupled, from 9.6 million in 1970, to about 38 million in 2007.

From this point we began to get mostly immigrants from statist nations who were uneducated and without skills and we still do.

Now we are adding far greater numbers of illegal immigrants from the poorest and most uneducated centers of their society, from drug cartels and terrorist groups. We place ads in Mexico for instance. We entice them in with freebies not freedom.

We also have the footnote put into the 14th amendment by a Supreme Court Justice that gave us the anchor baby. We have people making appointments in hotels here to give birth. We have pregnant women being dragged over the southern border to give birth. The babies are then eligible for entitlements.

The DHS website WelcomeToAmerica.gov bills itself as the “primary gateway for new immigrants to find basic information on how to settle in the United States,” and it also features a prominent section which instructs new immigrants on how to access government benefits.

“Depending on your immigration status, length of time in the United States, and income, you may be eligible for some federal benefit programs.”

The site also talks about free education.

Every government site has the same welcome. In fact go to Welcome USA to see what they are encouraging.

The links take the immigrant to food stamps (SNAP), welfare (SSI), Medicare, Medicaid, TARP, help for survivors of domestic abuse.

This is against federal law if they are applying for a VISA. The Immigration and Nationality Act, under section 212, states, “An alien who, in the opinion of the consular officer at the time of application for a visa, or in the opinion of the Attorney General at the time of application for admission or adjustment of status, is likely at any time to become a public charge is inadmissible.” Section 212 also addresses the health status and criminal background of someone seeking legal status.

Despite this law, we encourage foreigners who will go on the dole.

Immigrants were our prized citizens. They are the hard working people who come here for a better life and we are encouraging them to become slouches and government slaves.

Instead of luring immigrants with the opportunity to make a better life for themselves, we are luring them with entitlements to make a lazy life for themselves.

Quote of the Week

“Tornadoes form below a class of severe thunderstorms known as supercells. Supercells feature intense upward moving columns of air that rotate, as the wind near the surface is drawn into those columns it begins to rotate and forms the tornado vortex. The damage attributed to tornadoes is caused by the strong winds in the vortex and flying debris.

“Oklahoma sits within an area of the United States commonly referred to as ‘tornado alley’ – this area is amongst the most frequent locations of tornado occurrence in the world. At this time of year, the warm and moist air from the Gulf of Mexico and cool and dry air from above the Rocky Mountains come together to make tornado alley the perfect environment to spawn supercells and tornadoes.

“Preliminary reports of damage from the Oklahoma tornado suggest it was of EF-4 intensity, which is the second highest intensity rating. EF-4 tornadoes have wind gusts between about 265 and 320 kilometres per hour.”
