Beyoncé fakes it, Joe grins, Beau looks confused

By now everyone has heard that Beyoncé lip-synced the Star Spangled Banner at the Inaugural, accompanied by the Marine Corps Band faking it.

Is it problematic that Beyoncé is faking it or is it a little problematic that the audience was faking it? The audience had to know they were listening to a tape and yet, in some cases, they acted as if they were thrilled that she knocked it out of the park. I guess by politicians standards, it was real enough.

President Obama was imperious. John Kerry smiled and nodded at her being able to deliver, Joe Biden grinned weirdly.

Beyoncé lip-syncing might be a no-never-mind but the audience reaction was a bit over-the-top. It’s not obvious in this particular video, but Michelle Obama was teary-eyed.

Honestly, I don’t care if she lip-synced but someone needs to tell me how Manti Te’o committed to an Internet girlfriend. Now that’s a bit much.

Forget the lying, how does he commit to a fake girlfriend he never met or even spoke with?

He needs to get out more.

Quote of the Week

"It's time for a new beginning, for an end to government of the few, by the few and for the few, time to reject the idea of an "on your own" society and to replace it with shared responsibility for shared prosperity. I prefer a "we're all in it together" society.

Now, there is no greater force for economic growth than free markets, but markets work best with rules that promote our values, protect our workers and give all people a chance to succeed. (We) ....can't just let business as usual go on, and that means something has to be taken away from some people."
