Update: 3/13: Beginning with 2/15 paychecks, troops will be paid only for the actual days they spend in a qualifying danger pay location, the Pentagon said. [Air Force Times]
They will receive a per diem rate instead of a flat monthly rate. Previously, troops who spent any portion of a month in a danger pay location received full monthly danger pay of $225.
Why aren’t they being paid for the entire time they are serving in a war zone?
Pretty cheap way to treat soldiers in a combat area and it sends a poor message. We are nickel-and-diming them as they risk their lives. We are a disgrace for allowing this to happen. Let’s cut Harry Reid’s pay instead!
Original Story: 2/14: My friend’s daughter graduated from the Naval Academy this past year. Her diploma has a space for the signature of the President of the United States and the words, “President of the United States” are stamped on the diploma, but the President’s signature is missing. It’s blank – there’s no signature.
That could be happening to other military.
Our President and his Reid Senate does not understand the importance of our military. These are men and women who are willing to put their lives on the line for us. We have the finest military force in the world and we refuse to pay them for their service.
Today, Obama spoke to the public about the payroll tax, smirking while he talked about the Republicans trying to take money away from the average citizen. Of course that is patently untrue but that is for another article. What I want to know is how can he say that and not cringe at his own dishonesty? The military aren’t deserving of combat pay but he is crowing about an unfunded and temporary tax cut which amounts to beans in each check?
The soldiers now risking their lives in Afghanistan are doing so under a new policy. They will only be given combat pay on a per diem basis whereas before it was on a monthly rate at least. This is so beyond disgraceful that I can find no words for it.
Big Peace: …As of February 1st 2012, President Obama has determined that Combat Pay for US forces will be determined by a new criteria. In general, Afghanistan has been deemed a combat zone and all US forces deployed in that region have been eligible for combat pay due to the certainty of encountering dirt-bags in firefights, ambushes, IED’s or suicide bombings…
A U.S. Army Officer, Lt. Col. Daniel Davis, has dared to speak out about the mission in Afghanistan now under Obama’s leadership. He said it is a shambles.
PressTV…”What I saw bore no resemblance to rosy official statements by US military leaders about conditions on the ground,” Davis wrote in an article published in Armed Forces Journal.
He accused his superiors of covering up the grim realities of war that are afflicting the foreign forces in Afghanistan.
“Instead, I witnessed the absence of success on virtually every level,” he wrote under the headline, “Truth, Lies And Afghanistan: How military leaders have let us down.”
“How many more men must die in support of a mission that is not succeeding and behind an array of more than seven years of optimistic statements by US senior leaders in Afghanistan?” he wrote.
In addition, he stated that the Afghan authorities are incapable of serving the people, and the militants control large areas of the country.
He also lamented that Afghan security forces are unwilling to fight the militants or are in cahoots with the Taliban…
Remember when we heard about military deaths every day? That was when Bush was President. You won’t hear about it now but our soldiers are dying every day.
U.S. Fatalities in and around Afghanistan

The President who continually criticized Bush for not engaging in the right war has completed the mission.
