Barack Obama is off in Hawaii spending millions, oblivious to the disasters he has caused throughout the world. One disaster in particular is the Afghanistan war. He is presiding over the loss of Afghanistan to the Taliban and Al-Qaeda thanks to his feckless policies.
Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton called the war in Afghanistan “the good war”. Afghanistan was always the Democrat war. Obama once accused George Bush of taking his eyes off the ball.
“Because we have taken our eye off the ball, they are stronger now than any time since 2001. As president, I want us to fight on the right battlefield, and what that means is getting out Iraq and refocusing our attention on the war that can be won in Afghanistan.”
We no longer see the constant rolls of soldiers’ names being read off by the media but that is because Obama is responsible for the deaths. Of those 2,232 American fatalities in Afghanistan, 1,663 – 74.5 percent – occurred since President Obama took office on Jan. 20, 2009.
Clinton likes to pretend she had nothing to do with the war in Afghanistan but it’s a lie. Hillary also called it the good war. She is a hawk. On at least three crucial issues—Afghanistan, Libya, and the bin Laden raid—Clinton took a more aggressive line than Gates, a Bush-appointed Republican.
You can’t fight a war the way the Democrats want to fight it. Hillary supported the war and then constantly criticized everything that was done to gain political points.
Getting back to Obama, he too sent our soldiers to Afghanistan without the ability to fight. He sent hem with highly restrictive rules of engagement and he pulled all but a small contingent out.
The current Afghanistan president is a good man who wants to save his country but Obama removed all intelligence capabilities from the country. That is something we could have done for them.
Thirty percent of Afghanistan is now controlled by the Taliban, the very people Obama said he wanted to save Afghans from. It’s the most territory they’ve controlled since 2001.
The Washington Post reported this:
With control of — or a significant presence in — roughly 30 percent of districts across the nation, according to Western and Afghan officials, the Taliban now holds more territory than in any year since 2001, when the puritanical Islamists were ousted from power after the 9/11 attacks. For now, the top American and Afghan priority is preventing Helmand, largely secured by U.S. Marines and British forces in 2012, from again falling to the insurgency.
As of last month, about 7,000 members of the Afghan security forces had been killed this year, with 12,000 injured, a 26 percent increase over the total number of dead and wounded in all of 2014, said a Western official with access to the most recent NATO statistics. Attrition rates are soaring. Deserters and injured Afghan soldiers say they are fighting a more sophisticated and well-armed insurgency than they have seen in years.
As Afghan security forces struggle, U.S. Special Operations troops are increasingly being deployed into harm’s way to assist their Afghan counterparts. Since Nov. 4, four members of the U.S.-led coalition have been wounded in Helmand, said U.S. Army Col. Michael Lawhorn, a military spokesman. Officially, U.S. military personnel have a mandate only “to train, advise and assist” Afghan forces.
We now have al-Qaeda training camps in Afghanistan. As Marco Rubio said, it’s one more example of Obama as a terrible president. ISIS is also a growing presence in Afghanistan.
As another country is destroyed, Obama vacations, something he said he wasn’t going to do. He was going to make sacrifices but instead he flies around the world to ridiculous events, burning fossil fuels, proselytizing on his socialist religious vision, and spending our tax dollars like a potentate.
