After the horrendous terror attack in London earlier this week which has now left five dead, including the ISIS killer Khalid Masood, PM Theresa May said it was not Islamic terrorism.

Conservative MP Michael Tomlinson asked whether she agreed the terrorism was a “perversion” of a “great religion”.

“Will the Prime Minister agree with me that what happened was not Islamic, just as the murder of Airey Neave was not Christian, and that in fact both are perversions of religion?”

“I absolutely agree, and it is wrong to describe this as ‘Islamic terrorism’,” she said.

“It is ‘Islamist terrorism’, it is a perversion of a great faith,” the Independent reported her as saying.

“Islamic”, “Islamist” – semantics while 5 lay dead and 29 wounded, 6 critically, 3 of them children. A 75-year old man was taken off the ventilator on Thursday and died.

They seem more concerned that it will reflect badly on the great faith. No one of sound mind will hold all Muslims responsible, but what makes Islam different is there are reported to be hundreds of millions who follow the “Islamist” creed, certainly there are tens of millions. While in the Christian religion, there is no equivalent movement, there is no jihad and to conflate the two is illogical.

Since 9/11 and after every terror attack by Islamists, what Americans hear most is how can we protect Muslims. Europe does the same.
