Gallup’s 30-day rolling average tracking has unemployment at 8.9%, underemployed at 18.9% and full time employed is at 64.3% though the Bureau of Truth had it at 58.5% with1.2 million people disappearing from the work force in the month of January.
As reported yesterday, long-term unemployed are leaving the work force to go on social security disability and 43% of them are claiming mental illness. This group has been removed from the work force and are not counted in the 8.9%.
The numbers are not seasonally adjusted. Given the fact that the holiday season continued into January, the numbers who were hired for seasonal work could lower these numbers again. Read here: Gallup
