Survivors hugging outside the church after the attack.
At least 75 Christians, including women and children, were killed by two suicide bombers as they were leaving church Sunday in Pakistan.
The deputy police commissioner, Sahibzada Anees, told NBC News that ‘A suicide bomber blew himself after entering in to the church hall. There were between 500 to 600 people present in the church.’
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned the bombing. However, a man outside the church said the police just stood by and watched.
Christians make up about 4% of Pakistan’s population of 180 million. Shi’ites are often targets as well. In 2009, 40 houses and a church were set ablaze by over 1,000 Muslims in Punjab province. Seven Christians were burned to death. That attack started over an alleged Koran burning.
