About the OWS, the Nancy Pelosi said, “God bless them for their spontaneity. It’s independent … it’s young, it’s spontaneous, it’s focused. And it’s going to be effective.”
She said recently that they have “strengthened our democracy”
Obama has unleashed the Occupiers (OWS) and other radical groups on our nation. He has expressed sympathy and understanding for their cause while ridiculing the peaceful, conservative Tea Party. He repeats the OWS mantra that calls for the redistribution of the wealth from the 1% to the 99%. Obama’s plans however will take from far more than the 1%.
The OWS coming out party is May 1st, the Communist May Day, and thousands plan to protest the NATO Summit. They are prepared for violence and so are the police.
Is this the President we want leading us?
The media has been complicit, lambasting the Tea Party as anti-government, dangerous, teabaggers, and racists with no evidence, while downplaying the rapes, murders, arson, thefts, and anti-government objectives of the Occupiers and unions involved in the occupations.
The purpose of the occupations is to take over other peoples property and possession because they believe they are entitled to do so. They are demanding entitlements at the expense of those who have earned their property and goods.
Adbusters announced - “On May 1, 50,000 people from all over the world will flock to Chicago, set up tents, kitchens, peaceful barricades and #OCCUPYCHICAGO for a month. The world’s military and political elites, heads of state, 7,500 officials from 80 nations, and more than 2,500 journalists will be there for a rare G8 and NATO simultaneous summit. And so will #OCCUPY.”
The Occupiers are planning demonstrations throughout the country starting in May.
Front Page Magazine: The anti-American activists of the Occupy Wall Street movement announced they plan to violently disrupt the G8/NATO summit in Chicago on May 19.
Adbusters, the Noam Chomsky-friendly magazine that spearheaded the Occupy movement, claims the movement will conduct a massive occupation of Chicago “in the tradition of the Chicago 8.”
Of course the radicals of the Chicago 8 organized riots at the Democratic Party’s national convention in that city in 1968. Hundreds of police officers were injured.
Adbusters vows that this time the rioters won’t give an inch to the police. A massive occupation of Chicago involving “50,000 people from all over the world” will begin on May 1:
And this time around we’re not going to put up with the kind of police repression that happened during the Democratic National Convention protests in Chicago, 1968 … nor will we abide by any phony restrictions the City of Chicago may want to impose on our first amendment rights. We’ll go there with our heads held high and assemble for a month-long people’s summit … we’ll march and chant and sing and shout and exercise our right to tell our elected representatives what we want … the constitution will be our guide. [ellipses in original]…
When the nations of the G8 and NATO begin meeting May 19, the movement plans to press its demands. Occupiers want an economy-killing “Robin Hood Tax” to be imposed on financial transactions, an international agreement to curb carbon emissions, and “a nuclear-free Middle East” (translation: the unilateral nuclear disarmament of Israel), according to Adbusters.
And woe to the powers that be if they don’t give in to the radicals’ demands.
And if they don’t listen … if they ignore us and put our demands on the back burner like they’ve done so many times before … then, with Gandhian ferocity, we’ll flashmob the streets, shut down stock exchanges, campuses, corporate headquarters and cities across the globe … we’ll make the price of doing business as usual too much to bear. The White House has moved the Group of 8 economic summit to Camp David while the NATO summit remains in Chicago but that doesn’t seem to have discouraged the allegedly tens of thousands who plan to come to Chicago for a rally and march to protest everything from war to poverty.
The following news reports indicate that riots, not simply peaceful protests are expected at the NATO-G8 Summit –
Chicago CBS:…When the NATO/G8 summits come around, Chicago Police horses will be outfitted with riot gear along with the officers riding them.
The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting the Emanuel administration is soliciting bids for “police horse riot gear and training aids” in preparation for the May 19-21 summits at McCormick Place…
Chicago 8:…the US Secret Service has gone out to bid for the physical requirements needed for the summit. This includes miles of concrete barriers, 8-foot-high “anti-scale” steel fencing, light towers, portable toilets, sand bags, tents, support trailers, portable generators, portable air conditioners, golf carts, and fueling support for a fleet of vehicles.
There is little doubt that the area around McCormick Place will be heavily secured, as officials plan to head off waves of potential protesters. At the 2010 NATO summit in Lisbon, Portugal, some 30,000 protesters were on hand, one march alone held 10,000 people as it snaked through a main thoroughfare.
Chicago Tribune:…The removal of the G-8 summit from Chicago has done nothing to curb interest from protesters intending to demonstrate during the summit weekend in May that now includes only NATO meetings, a top Chicago Police Department official said Tuesday.
The expectation of large crowds of demonstrators is among the reasons that police opposed plans for a protest march that would start in Daley Plaza on the first day of the NATO gathering, said Chief Debra Kirby, head of the department’s international relations office….
The following is from the Coalition Against NATO/G8 War and Poverty Agenda, a far left activist group –
Statist group cang8: ..“We will march in May during the NATO meeting to deliver our message: Jobs, Housing, Healthcare, Education, Our Pensions, the Environment: Not War! We and tens of thousands will be in the streets that day for a family friendly rally and march, with cries so loud they will be heard in Camp David and across the globe. We will be in the streets that day to fight for our future, and speak out against the wars and their cutbacks are designed to benefit the 1% at the expense of the 99% of the world.” [Isn't that Obama's platform?]
Residents of State Street (Chicago) condo building have been strongly warned by the management to move out during the NATO Summit on May 18 – May 21. Riots are expected and they will be in the middle of the planned chaos and violence.
My Fox Chicago: Warnings in the letter -
“In the event of a riot or the potential of one near the building, all access doors will be locked including the garage door,” the letter continues. “For everyone’s safety, we will be instructing anyone in the building to stay in his or her unit.”…
…”We are strongly recommending that you do not have any guests over during this time including dog walkers and cleaning companies.”
“There will be absolutely no deliveries or moves permitted between Friday, May 18 and Monday, May 21.”
“The revolving door will be locked on Friday morning.”…
From Anarchist News: -
An alliance of Chicago area peace and justice organizations, together with the United National Antiwar Committee (UNAC), are jointly calling for a united mass mobilization to protest the NATO and G8 Summits to be held in Chicago May 15 to 22. Permit applications were submitted for:
Tuesday, May 15 – a national assembly to put the warmakers on trial.
Saturday, May 19 – a major international demonstration to express broad outrage at the gathering of war makers wasting trillions of dollars on war and devastation during a time of enormous economic hardship and crisis for millions.
Anarchist seek the overthrow of the government but they are not Leninists or Socialists. Many do not want to engage with these leftist groups, who represent those factions.
