“Appalling” WH Correspondents Dinner Displayed All That’s Wrong With DC

nasty obama at WHCD

Before you read, you should know that not one of the White House reporters is a Republican.

The White House Correspondents Dinner was a disgusting display of arrogant and divisive politics.  It was blatant insider’s club nonsense. The only plus was seeing the press get their share of insults though it was also obvious from their inside jokes and their cozy relationships that the press and the White House are in bed together.

CNN’s Jake Tapper began Sunday’s “State of the Union” by saying the state of the union is “hungover”.

“I’m Jake Tapper in Washington where the state of our union is — a bit hungover,” he announced. It stretched into the wee hours.

Tapper said critics see the dinner as “an appalling self-congratulatory symbol of all that is wrong with Washington.”

The Sentinel would like to add it’s also an unseemly politicized event meant to promote the president and demonize opponents, not with good-natured humor, but with mean-spiritedness, arrogance and snide cynicism.

“President Obama seemed to relish his final year at the party in cracking jokes at the expense of the media, including CNN, Congress, Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and of course, Donald Trump,” Tapper said.

He left out congressional Republicans.

The comedian Larry Wilmore used racially-charged language and called Obama an “n…”. Both he and Obama attacked Hillary and Trump who were not present.

It’s hard to laugh when you know Obama and Wilmore mean many of his nasty comments, especially about congressional Republicans.

Obama doesn’t seem to like Hillary much though he suggested she will win, and, knowing how the Democrats cheat at the polls, that’s probably a given.

“You’ve got to admit it though,” Obama said, “Hillary trying to appeal to young voters is a little bit like your relative that just signed up for Facebook,” Obama joked.

Trump wasn’t present and he made note of it.

“I am a little hurt he’s not here tonight,” Obama said. “We had so much fun the last time. And it is surprising — you have a room full of reporters, celebrities, cameras. And he says no. Is this dinner too tacky for The Donald? What could he be possibly doing instead? Eating a Trump Steak? Tweeting out insults to Angela Merkel? What’s he doing?”

He then attacked Trump’s qualifications.

“Obviously, we all know about your credentials and breadth of experience,” Obama said then, slamming Trump for his supposed displays of leadership on “Celebrity Apprentice.”

“These are the kind of decisions that would keep me up at night. Well handled sir, well handled,” Obama said sarcastically.

He’s just joking…sure. It’s not what I want to hear from my president. What do you think?

Reporters mingling and being feted by the White House in luxurious surroundings when they are supposed to be government watchdogs is just more proof that they are now the state-sponsored media.

Wilmore was obnoxious, especially on accusations that everyone is racist. Here are a few of his lines.

He began by saying, “welcome to Negro night” or “as Fox News would report it, two thugs interrupt elegant dinner at DC.” He blasted Mitch McConnell and went on and on with racist bulls….

“Everybody hates Ted Cruz. Even OJ Simpson said, ‘That guy’s just hard to like.'”

“No shade, but Fox is the highest rated network among young people who don’t know what shade is.” He portrayed Fox as racist more than once.

He referred to the president as “my nigga.” He used the word “jiggaboo” several times.

The guy has no class – none – zero – nada – zilch.

Is this who we are now? Are these our values now? This president who constantly attacks Trump for lacking professionalism has brought down the presidency single-handedly over the last nearly eight years.
