Banality of Evil: Stunning Attack on Freedom by States Attorneys General

An agenda by some very far-left environmental and political groups has been made public by the Wall Street Journal and the Free Beacon. It shows that these groups are likely conspiring with the government to destroy the fossil fuel industry and shut down the free speech of dissenters.

The administration is sending out their minions to frighten ordinary posters on social media, a think tank and fossil fuel companies. It’s not a good sign.

A secret January meeting was reported Wednesday by the Wall Street Journal between top officials of GreenPeace, the Working Families Party and the Rockefeller Family Fund on January 8th at the Rockefeller Family Fund in Manhattan. They are all people of the far-left.

The meeting coincided with climate change groups pushing for a federal criminal probe of ExxonMobil’s environmental impact, similar to the 1990s racketeering case against Big Tobacco.

New York’s Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is already investigating Exxon Mobil and Loretta Lynch has told Senator Sheldon Whitehouse that she was looking into pursuing RICO-style crackdowns on climate change deniers as he has insisted.

A copy of the meeting’s agenda, has just been obtained by the Washington Free Beacon, which proves the coalition’s goals are to “delegitimize [ExxonMobil] as a political actor,” “force officials to disassociate themselves from Exxon,” and “drive divestment from Exxon.”

They also proposed “creating scandal” by using lawsuits and state prosecutors to obtain their internal documents as part of a fishing expedition.

California and other states attorneys general announced investigations into ExxonMobil’s statements on climate change in January, shortly after the January meeting took place.

Peabody Energy, the world’s largest coal miner, has been under investigation by New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and will now be forced to tell its investors about the financial risks it faces from future government policies and regulations related to climate change and other environmental issues that could reduce demand for its product.

The only reason to do this is to weaken them and hasten their collapse.

Hillary Clinton wants to fire all the coal workers and is now talking about destroying fracking and oil companies. Bernie spouted the same insane rhetoric about fossil fuels last night during the Democrat town hall. Both think they are going to find government jobs for all the people who lose their jobs thanks to their policies.

There are currently 16 Democrat State Attorneys General, the Attorney General of the Virgin Islands and Al Gore who have clearly stated their intentions are to prosecute climate change deniers to the fullest extent of the law and that now includes a Libertarian think tank.

The Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) is a Libertarian, free market, limited government think tank that is now targeted by the government because of their extensive work on climate change that does not conform perfectly to the left-wing ideology. They are being persecuted for their thoughts.

They’ve been served with a subpoena for a decade’s worth of communications, emails, statements, drafts, and other documents regarding CEI’s work on climate change and energy policy, including private donor information. It demands that CEI produce these materials from 20 years ago, from 1997-2007, by April 30, 2016, according to CEI.

The subpoena came from U.S. Virgin Islands Attorney General Claude Walker  who is part of the leftist coalition to destroy fossil fuels and any dissent on global warming.

CEI’s position on climate change science is not at all radical. You can read more about it at CEI.

Replete with fraud and corruption worldwide, alternative energy, global warming, crony capitalism have all been weaponized by redistributionists.

Evil doesn’t always present as evil. Hannah Arendt talked about the “banality of evil” and what she meant was evil can come in the form of a very mediocre person or an ideology that contains truths or attractions and it can look normal or commonplace. It’s this very normalcy that makes it invisible. People can’t see it.

The government is normalizing and making commonplace the attacks on free speech and demonization of anyone who would speak against their ideals, including the cult-like movement of climate change. Of course it doesn’t even begin or end with climate change.

In case you missed it, you need to hear Sen. Whitehouse talk about prosecuting climate deniers.
