CBS News correspondent Scott Pelley spoke with local CBS News reporter Omar Villafranca about the recent murder of Officer Goforth. Pelley played a clip of Texas Sheriff Hickman, a friend and colleague of Goforth’s, saying, “This rhetoric has gotten out of control…We’ve black lives matter, all lives matter. Well, cops lives matter, too. So, why don’t we just drop the qualifying and just say lives matter.”
VillaFranca, in a voice-over, called the remarks controversial and added that “Some have called the statement insensitive”, not explaining who the “some” were. He obviously wanted to say that and attribute it to others.
He continued, “More than a thousand residents of all races came together this weekend to emphasize harmony.”
There was no mention of the behavior of Black Lives Matter groups throughout the country or of other radical groups threatening to kill police officers and white people. Black Lives Matter, a hate group, has been endorsed by the Democratic National Committee which was in turn rejected by the group. They are leftists but they don’t want to be associated with a party.
Armed New Black Panthers marched in Texas after the murder of Texas Sheriff’s deputy Goforth, chanting “our streets…all power to the people…oink, oink, bang, bang…No more pigs in my community…revolution has come.”
MSNBC anchor and leftist commentator Chris Hayes interviewed Trahern Crews, a St. Paul organizer for Black Lives Matter. Crews is a Green Party (Communist party) candidate for the St. Paul City Council War 1.
He asked Crews if Black Lives Matter activists “hate police officers”.
Hayes specifically referred to the by marches in Minnesota in which participants chanted, “Pigs in a blanket fry like bacon! Pigs in a blanket fry like bacon! Pigs in a blanket fry like bacon! Pigs in a blanket fry like bacon! Pigs in a blanket fry like bacon!”
Those were the words that the murderer of two New York City police officers last year had blogged.
Crews continued with his comments about not hating the police.
“No, not at all,” Crews said. “And I want to put that chant in context. We had a great demonstration that day. It was very exciting. It was so exciting that I think the police who were along escorting the marchers wanted to be a part of the march or a part of the demonstration. So on the way back, the officer leading the parade kept talking into his microphone and saying things to the crowd, like, stay off the medium [sic], do that, he was laughing and joking with the marchers, so then the marchers kind of started chanting that towards him. It was more playful than anything. So —“
Are we supposed to actually believe this? On many, many other occasions, their chants have been just as bad. Last December, they blocked traffic in Minnesota, chanting, “Deck the Halls with Dead Cops”.
Hayes asked, “So that was — you’re saying, that was in a playful context, that chant?”
Crews responded, “Exact— at that particular demonstration, yes. That was. Because, and the officer was laughing and joking along with the protesters.”
An officer, according to him, responded sarcastically and Crews decided to use that as an example of it being nothing more than a fun time.
“And, and, and he, and the officer also said, when they started chanting, he said back into the microphone, everybody loves bacon,” Crews said.
In fairness, Crews doesn’t seem bright enough to tell the difference between joking and a slap back at him.
Crews, all dressed up in his deceivingly preppie clothes blamed the white man and police for the black crime. “Black-On-Black crime is a resort to institutional racism,” Crews declared.
You know those black gangs running around killing other black gang youth and innocents? It’s the white man’s fault and it’s the police’s fault.
Of course criminals and fools would believe that.
When will Barack Obama speak against these vile groups? They are tearing at the fabric of society and at the trust for our police officers.
Much of the community distrust is growing from these groups that Obama has promoted and refuses to criticize.
Sheriff Clarke said the Attorney General has an opportunity here to display some leadership but she won’t respond to his requests for a meeting. That sort of thing makes the police officer have no faith in Justice, Sheriff Clarke said, the political class have abandoned the police.
