Blame The Movie? Really?

Blame the movie?

Blame Nakoula Basseley Nakoula?

The Associated Press has.

“Federal authorities have identified Nakoula, a self-described Coptic Christian, as the key figure behind “Innocence of Muslims,” a film denigrating Islam and the Prophet Muhammad that ignited mob violence against U.S. embassies across the Middle East.”

That’s the official word from the Obama administration, too.  The now famous anti-Muslim trailer, which has been posted on Youtube for weeks, is said to be the reason the entire Middle East exploded in violence and death, quite coincidentally on 09-11-12.

I’m not buying what my own government is selling and I’m actually appalled that my government would attempt to deflect blame to a filmmaker when one of the president’s strongest supporters did basically the same thing awhile back and it never raised an eyebrow.

Here’s how Breitbart writer, John Nolte sifted through the maze:

“Bill Maher made a comedy/documentary called “Religulous” that’s most famous for mercilessly mocking Christianity.  But what people forget is that the last twenty-minutes or so of the film make a damning case against Islam.

Bill Maher made a film that mocked Islam.

Oh, yes, he did.

Bill Maher also contributed $1 million to a pro-Obama super PAC.

And I’m sure that upon being reminded of this, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will tremble with self-righteous indignation and demand Maher take his money back.

After all, if movies create the terrorists who in turn create the terrorism, what about Bill Maher?”

For the record, I totally agree with this point of view.

The reaction – or lack of reaction, depending on what portion of this hideous series of events you cite – by the White House was extremely quick to finger the current Youtube video poster for causing the entire explosion of death and destruction even while those same protesters were screaming “Death to America” and “We are all Osama Bin Laden”.

The “film” had little or nothing whatsoever to do with any of it.  By their very words and actions, the protesters seemed far more likely to be reacting to President Obama spiking the football with his “GM is alive; Bin Laden is dead” re-election talking point, along with the fact it was the anniversary of 9-11.

The White House can spin this any way it wants, but the people aren’t stupid.  We know what our ears hear and our eyes see, and the cause of this Middle Eastern unrest – including the deaths of four Americans – leads to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, D.C.
