Guess what Bradley Manning and Barack Obama have in common. No, it’s not that they both sold out the country.
They have both been recognized by the Nobel Prize Committee. Could the Nobel Prize be any more irrelevant?
Bradley Manning, the U.S. soldier, alleged traitor, accused of passing secret materials to Wikileaks, has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by The Movement of Icelandic Parliament, which asserts that revelations produced by the documents Manning allegedly exposed “have helped to fuel a worldwide discussion about America’s overseas engagements, civilian war casualties, imperialistic manipulations, and rules of engagement.”
I guess it’s no more ridiculous for a traitor to be given an award than for Obama to be given the Peace Prize before he did anything. Obama has since provoked violent unrest throughout the Middle East – I wonder if the Nobel committee has an award for that.
