Breitbart’s Videos of Obama’s Friend & Mentor, Professor Derrick Bell

Derrick Bell

The Breitbart video released tonight on Hannity links President Obama to Professor Derrick Bell, a racialist [some would use the word “racist”] and social justice [Marxist] activist who died last year.

A key point made during this segment is that the media covered up the information or ignored the easily obtained facts about Obama’s radical associates during the 2008 election. Obama was never vetted by our lamestream media. Meanwhile, the good qualities of Republican candidates and his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, were continually demeaned, Every venial sin they might have ever committed was put out through the airwaves. Remember how they called the Clintons “racists?”

Everyone should be outraged by this because it is not what the media is supposed to do. We are supposed to get the truth from our media unless we accept that they are Pravda and we are useful idiots.

I read Obama’s books and there really is no secret about who he is and what his ideology is because he [Obama] says it in his books! In Dreams from My Father, Obama said that while at Occidental, “To avoid being mistaken for a sellout, I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist professors and structural feminists and punk-rock performance poets.”

A Brief bio on Professor Bell –

Bell apparently became one of the radicals he associated with at Harvard and with whom he maintained a friendship throughout his life.

Bell was the first tenured African-American professor of Law at Harvard University, and while there established a new course in civil rights law.

Prof. Bell was born in the Hill District of Pittsburgh, he received an A.B. from Duquesne University in 1952 and an LL.B. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1957.

In 1959, Bell took a position with the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Justice Department and he was the only Black person working for the Justice Department at the time.

The Justice Department asked him to resign his membership in the NAACP, Bell decided not to and quit rather than giving up his membership.

In 1969, Bell was hired to teach at Harvard Law School.

On October 5, 2011, Bell died from carcinoid cancer at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital, at the age of 80…Read more: Global Grind

Professor Derrick Bell of Harvard, words from his obituary –

Bell was credited with developing “critical race theory,” which suggested that the U.S. legal system was inherently biased against African Americans and other minorities because it was built on an ingrained white point of view. He argued in his many books and lectures that the life experiences of black people and other minorities should be considered in hiring decisions and in applying the law.

Bell maintained that the standards for promotion and tenure at law schools – and Harvard, in particular – were inherently discriminatory and excluded a broad group of minorities. By hiring only graduates of top-tier law schools who had clerked at the Supreme Court, he argued, academia was populated by a uniform group of standard-issue professors, most of them white men.

So what was racial realism? {In Bell’s explanation below he refers to “liberal worldview” but he is referring to the classical liberalism of John Locke and the Founding Fathers, not modern liberalism). He suggests that private rights and public sovereignty rule of law need to be exploded –

He was a supporter of Farrakhan, a radical racist and anti-semite –
Some scholars, both black and white, challenged Bell’s ideas, as well as his strong support of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. Nonetheless, Bell remained one of the country’s most outspoken public intellectuals until his death.
Author James Traub voiced this opinion in his  1993 piece on the professor:
That’s Derek Bell’s bottom line: if it comforts whites, it’s bad; if it comforts blacks–i.e., Farrakhan–it’s good. Bell, along with Farrakhan and so many others, offers victimization as a consolation…All-American Blogger

Bell wrote a science fiction story titled “The Space Traders,” with the claim at the beginning of the book that, Racism is an integral, permanent and indestructible component of this society.

In “The Space Traders,“ aliens arrive and offer the United States ”enough gold to retire the national debt, a magic chemical that will cleanse America’s polluted skies and waters, and a limitless source of safe energy to replace our dwindling reserves.” The U.S. just has to give the aliens one thing in return: all of our black people. (Guess what white Americans decide?)

The following is a relevant passage which gives a good sense of what the book’s message is –

But whites, long conditioned to discounting any statements of blacks unconfirmed by other whites, chose now, of course, to follow their own perceptions. “Will the blacks never be free of their silly superstitions?” Whites asked one another with condescending smiles. “Here, in this truly historic moment, when America has been selected as the site for this planet’s first contact with people from another world, the blacks just revert to their primitive fear and foolishness.” Thus, the blacks’ outrage was discounted in this crisis; they had, as usual, no credibility.

And it was a time of crisis. Not only because of the Space Traders’ offer per se, but because that offer came when the country was in dire straits. Decades of conservative, laissez-faire capitalism had emptied the coffers of all but a few of the very rich. The nation that had, in the quarter-century after the Second World War, funded the reconstruction of the free world had, in the next quarter-century, given itself over to greed and willful exploitation of its natural resources. Now it was struggling to survive like any third-world nation. Massive debt had curtailed all but the most necessary services. The environment was in shambles, as reflected by the fact that the sick and elderly had to wear special masks whenever they ventured out-of-doors. In addition, supplies of crude oil and coal were almost exhausted. The Space Traders’ offer had come just in time to rescue America. Though few gave voice to their thoughts, many were thinking that the trade offer was, indeed, the ultimate solution to the nation’s troubles.[…]Read more: The Blaze

In the following section, Professor Bell defends the racist, anti-semite, Louis Farrakhan –

[You have to suffer through Mediate’s ads in both videos] The edited Buzzfeed video and the unedited footage, which includes a hug between Obama and Professor Bell, are included in this video. However, Obama was the President of the Law Review introducing one of his Professors so take it for what you will., keeping in mind that he tells the students to please listen and take Bell’s words to heart. He also remained his friend throughout Bell’s life  –

In the following video, Professor Bell talks about the “smaller government” rebellion as actually racism against blacks and that Obama’s election has revived racism. [Unfortunately, Obama is reviving racial divisions not “smaller government” people]-

An interesting story from an article in 2010 by Newsmax talks about one of Obama’s friends in college who claims Obama was a Marxist at the time. Another student who knew both men said he never heard Obama express these views –

As a college student, Barack Obama expressed Marxist views, including the need for a new socialist U.S. government, according to a student who says he shared the future president’s opinion at the time.

Dr. John C. Drew, a grant writing consultant in Laguna Niguel, Calif., tells Newsmax he met Obama in 1980 when Obama was a sophomore at Occidental College in Los Angeles. Drew had just graduated from Occidental and was attending graduate school at Cornell University.

Drew’s then girlfriend, Caroline Boss — now Grauman-Boss — knew Obama because she shared classes with him at Occidental.

During Christmas break, Drew says he was at Grauman-Boss’ home in Palo Alto when Obama came over with Mohammed Hasan Chandoo, his roommate from Pakistan.

“Barack and Hasan showed up at the house in a BMW, and then we went to a restaurant together,” Drew says. “We had a nice meal, and then we came back to the house and smoked cigarettes and drank and argued politics.”
For the next several hours, they discussed Marxism.

“He was arguing a straightforward Marxist-Leninist class-struggle point of view, which anticipated that there would be a revolution of the working class, led by revolutionaries, who would overthrow the capitalist system and institute a new socialist government that would redistribute the wealth,” says Drew, who says he himself was then a Marxist.

“The idea was basically that wealthy people were exploiting others,” Drew says. “That this was the secret of their wealth, that they weren’t paying others enough for their work, and they were using and taking advantage of other people. He was convinced that a revolution would take place, and it would be a good thing.”

Drew concluded that Obama thought of himself as “part of an intelligent, radical vanguard that was leading the way towards this revolution and towards this new society.”

In contrast, “My more pessimistic Marxist perspective indicated this was not a realistic possibility, that we really hadn’t seen a sort of complete revolution take place anywhere in Western Europe, and that this isn’t what had happened in more socialistic Germany or in France,” Drew says. “He was pretty persistent, that I didn’t know what I was talking about.”…Read more on Obama Espoused Radical Views in College
