Bye Bye CLASS Act, Another Bad Kennedy Idea


As reported here on September 25th, the Kennedy sponsored longterm healthcare portion of Obamacare is unsustainable. Sebellius, after repeated warnings, has finally thrown in the towel, according to the AP.

The CLASS portion of Obamacare, the Community Living Assistance Services and Supports program was a longstanding priority of the late Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, who insisted it be included in Obamacare. It covers nursing homes and healthcare aides for everyone.

No matter how well-intentioned, it’s impossible pie-in-the-sky. After months of trying to fix the crazy CLASS, Sebellius said today: “Despite our best analytical efforts, I do not see a viable path forward for CLASS implementation at this time,” Sebelius said in a letter to congressional leaders.
