Can’t Hold Him! Illegal Murders Girlfriend Two Weeks After Beating Her

It’s cruel and inhuman punishment to hold an illegal alien – already deported in 2008 – even after he brutally beats his girlfriend in the sanctuary city of Santa Rosa. After all, one mustn’t separate families. The girlfriend is now dead.

People are expendable under sanctuary city law because it’s only the ideology the counts.

An illegal alien, Nery Israel Estrada-Margos, 38, beat up his girlfriend in Santa Rosa. He was arrested and released. The sheriff said he notified ICE as they requested but they never came. The sheriff gave them only 16 minutes to get there and according to ICE, that’s become the pattern. Two weeks after this, he beat his girlfriend 42-year-old Veronica Cabrera Ramirez to death.

ICE couldn’t have legally held him anyway, the county sheriff said.

The murder followed a heated argument, according to the KTVU TV.

Neighbors were shocked. “Quiet, kept to herself, raised two girls…It’s pretty terrible. It wasn’t anything we were expecting,” said neighbor Jeff Brockett.

Estrada, who has a number of aliases, turned himself in. Police went to his girlfriend’s apartment where they found the body of deceased 42-year-old Veronica Cabrera Ramirez.

ICE had asked to be notified when he was released. The sheriff said he did and ICE didn’t come.

The sheriff, Rob Giordano, says despite Ramirez’ death he doesn’t believe any agencies dropped the ball.

“It is too complex to turn this into what ICE did or didn’t do. ICE could have released him because they couldn’t hold him,” said Giordano.

Under the California Trust Act (CTA,) which is designed to “limit cruel and costly immigration ‘hold’ requests in local jails,” federal immigration officials will only be informed of a release if the person has been convicted of a felony.

According to Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Spencer Crum, Estrada-Margos had no prior convictions and under the CTA, law enforcement officials had no obligation to notify ICE about his release.

Criminal aliens are allowed to commit any crimes prior to conviction of a felony and they can always commit misdemeanors without being deported. We wouldn’t want to break up a family with such a stellar breadwinner. Of course, we could send them all back but leftists think it’s cruel to send them all home. Leftists want criminal aliens to remain in the country.

Under legislation passed earlier this year, Californian law enforcement agencies are prohibited from helping federal immigration enforcement, qualifying the city as a ‘sanctuary state.’

ICE issued a statement Tuesday evening. It said that the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department notified ICE only 16 minutes before releasing him, and that was not sufficient time to pick him up.

It also said the vast majority of calls from the county over the past six months have failed to provide adequate time for ICE agents.

“This case underscores yet again why immigration detainers are such a crucial enforcement tool and why it is highly problematic, and even tragic, when jurisdictions choose not to comply.” Giordano said.
