Chris Christie Knew About the Lane Closures, So?

I’m no Chris Christie fan; in fact, I don’t like him. When it comes to the lane closures, I don’t know what he knew or when he knew it. What I do know is the newspapers are again indulging themselves by meting out unequal justice to Republicans.

The Port Authority official who oversaw the closing of lanes on the George Washington Bridge, David Wildstein has made vague allegations against Christie’s veracity. His lawyer wrote a letter claiming Governor Christie knew or might have known about the closures in real time.

The letter has been published by the New York Times. The following is the paragraph that has spurred the “mainstream media” to proclaim: “Ex-aide: Christie knew about lane closures on bridge” (USA Today), “Christie Linked to Knowledge of Shut Lanes” (NY Times), “Bridge scandal: Chris Christie knew about lane closures, Wildstein’s lawyer says” (NJ.com), “Chris Christie Knew All About the Bridge Lane Closings, Claims Ex-Friend Who Closed the Lanes” (NY Mag), “Letter: Christie knew about Bridge closings as they happened ex aide says” (abc local), and so on.

Read the offending paragraph and tell me if you see what I see:

Wildstein letter

Of course he knew the lanes were closed, heck, I knew the lanes were closed and I live 100 miles away. Wildstein claims some of Christie’s statements were inaccurate but we don’t know which statements he is referring to or if we can even believe him.

Mr. Wildstein is trying to get the Port Authority to cover his legal costs in this letter to say nothing of the fact that he wants immunity for ratting out Christie.

The titles in the mainstream news stories are misleading at best. They’ve declared him guilty. He’s politically dead. All that’s left is the epitaph.

If only the media had given as much attention to the ObamaCare bill before it was passed.

So little attention was paid to the bribery and corruption that went into ObamaCare.

Sen. Mary Landrieu didn’t want to sign the healthcare bill but they bribed her so much, she couldn’t help it. Has she ever been chastised for taking a bribe?

Ben Nelson’s Cornhusker Kickback was a bribe carved out only for his state. He received a permanent exemption from the state share of Medicaid expansion for Nebraska, meaning federal taxpayers have to kick in an additional $45 million in the first decade alone. It was later rescinded. He voted for the bill and got nothing in return. He supposedly got a clause precluding ObamaCare from paying for abortions but as it turns out most policies on the exchange have a $1 fee attached to them to pay for abortions.

Senator Stupak, a supposedly pro-life Senator, voted for the bill because Barack Obama agreed to issue an Executive Order banning ObamaCare from funding abortions. He knew, as we all did, that it was a fraud since Executive Orders can be obliterated with the stroke of a pen. Did the media care that he was a liar? No, they supported his decision.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, took a bribe for $10 billion in new funding for community health centers, while denying it was a “sweetheart deal.”

Senators Ben Nelson and Carl Levin carved out an exemption for non-profit insurers in their states from a hefty excise tax. Vermont and Massachusetts were given additional Medicaid funding, another plus for Sanders and Sen.Patrick Leahy. Three states – Pennsylvania, New York and Florida – all won protections for their Medicare Advantage beneficiaries at a time when the program is facing cuts nationwide.

Max Baucus was one of the driving forces behind ObamaCare and now he calls it a “train wreck”. Is he being held accountable? No, he’s been promoted to Ambassador to China.

Mr. Obama, who gave exemptions galore to unions, is making the monks at Belmont Abbey and The Little Sisters of the Poor pay for birth control, abortifacients, and sterilizations. It is a clear violation of religious freedom but not much is made of it unless you listen to Fox News.

ObamaCare in California has at least 48 criminals working as Navigators according to the National Review Online and, indeed, Kathleen Sebelius has said that there are no criminal background checks for these people who are handling the personal records of millions of Americans, and yes, she agreed, felons could be hired.

But what really has the media upset? What is really so earth shattering that a federal investigation had to be launched immediately? Why, lane closures on the George Washington Bridge of course!

I am not saying it doesn’t matter or that it shouldn’t be investigated, but the unequal justice is obvious and the role the media plays has made it real clear that alternative media is a necessary outgrowth of years of abusive practices by the mainstream media.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein wants to shut down bloggers. No surprise there!
