“He’s great”, Clint Eastwood told host Mario Lopez on Extra this past week when asked his opinion of Donald Trump. He also said “Any one of them would be better than what we got.” He also likes Carson, Rubio and Cruz.
“I think there’s quite a few of them who are really good people,” Eastwood, a self-described libertarian, said.
“You know, I don’t know,” Eastwood replied. “I think people are looking for somebody who is outspoken and who isn’t afraid. And he [Trump] seems to have kind of a fearless attitude. I like Ben Carson because he is kind of a common sense guy. Any one of them would be better than what we got.”
“I like Ben Carson cause he’s kind of a common sense guy and also doesn’t seem to be afraid, and Rubio, who I’ve met and I like very much, and Ted Cruz,” Eastwood said.
He was asked if he would attend the Republican convention but he didn’t think they’d ask him. “They might not want me this year because I’ll be talking to chairs and doing something stupid,” he added.
The 85-year old actor and genius director appeared on Extra to discuss “Sully,” his next directorial project. The movie, which is due next year, focuses on Chelsey “Sully” Sullenberger, the hero pilot who helped land US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River safely after both of its engines failed. The title role will be played by Tom Hanks.
