President Barack Obama has called for raising the minimum wage to $9 an hour from $7.25 but no one is heeding the call except his Communist friends in the SEIU.
The SEIU wants to unionize fast food workers and the strikes are aimed at forcing the issue and heeding Obama’s call.
SEIU is waging a massive year-long campaign in major cities with staged one-day strikes at Mcdonald’s, Burger King Worldwide Inc. (BKW), Domino’s Pizza Inc. (DPZ) and Subway. Workers from Macy’s Inc. (M) and L Brands Inc. (LTD)’s Victoria’s Secret chain joined in walking off the job in Chicago and New York.
They want $15 an hour for burger makers from franchises that work on a small profit margin and who can’t sustain a 66% increase in wages over the current $9.02 an hour. McDonald’s averages about $12.50 an hour.
The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is organizing the strikes and they are paying money into the campaign.
“SEIU members, like all service-sector workers, are worse off when large fast-food and retail companies are able to hold down wages and push down benefit standards for working people,” said Mary Kay Henry, SEIU president.
Anyone who thinks cooking burgers in a fast food restaurant is a career path needs to rethink that.
Where will the increased salaries come from? Will Mr. Bernanke give mini printing presses to stores? Will Wendy’s, McDonald’s, Burger King, etc. raise prices accordingly to meet the increases costs? Will anyone buy any of these meals if the prices increase 66%?
Fast Food Restaurants will go the way of Hostess Cupcakes if they try it.
Who do these unions think are the average fast food customers? Over-paid unionized Government workers?
They sank to a new low when they planned strikes in bankrupt Detroit and Flint. They called them off for now.
On April 4, 2013, SEIU organized strikes of 70 fast food restaurants across New York City, demanding higher wages.
Why do I refer to SEIU leaders and members as Communists? Check out the photos below.
SEIU paraded around with communists on May Day in 2008 and every May Day since. The parade pictured below didn’t take place in some Third World country, it happened in Downtown Los Angeles and it has happened in other cities.
