It is possible that President Obama’s idea of Winning the Future is to turn the United States into an austere version of the Democratic Socialist European Countries who are now crashing and burning under the weight of their entitlement societies.
Last week, Sam Webb, Chairman of the Communist Party USA, wrote in an article for People’s Weekly World, the Communist Party official newspaper, that they stand behind the Democratic Party and Obama’s re-election. “Furthermore, we are also aware of the undeniable fact that no other party besides the Democratic Party stands a chance of beating the GOP next year.”
In his June 26, 2011 article entitled, “Fighting for Our Future”, Sam Webb writes, “…To complicate matters, the bug of austerity has bitten the Obama administration and many Democrats too. While their deficit reduction plans are more modest, these are still the wrong medicine for a faltering economy. It’s akin to pouring gasoline on a fire. Rather than withdrawing monies from the economy, additional monies should be injected into it.
If we want evidence of the counterproductive nature of austerity, we need only look to Europe. There several countries – Greece, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, etc. – that have been forced to solve their debt crisis by means of austerity find themselves mired in debt and economic stagnation.
Our national debt is a problem in the longer term, but in the short term our real deficit is a deficit of infrastructure, renewable energy, education, health care, mass transportation, etc. None of these deficits can be addressed without strong, government-led, national strategies…”
Editor’s note: Webb’s assertion that austerity has caused the European crisis defies credulity, when in fact these countries rejected any significant austerity reforms and waited for their bailouts. It’s curious that Webb sees excessive spending as the answer and austerity as the problem when it counters logic. The last line of his article sounds like talking points from many of Obama’s speeches.
If you go to their site, you will find that they use “communist, socialist, progressive, democratic socialist” interchangeably because they are all on the same page to varying degrees. Seems like (hope not) we can add the Democratic Party to that as well.
If you go through the articles on CPUSA online, you will find President Obama’s platform. One curious aside, they are promoting the aggressive use of the social media. As I watched Obama’s twitter campaign against the Republicans, I thought how in tune he is with the CPUSA.
There is ample evidence that President Obama was a member of the New Party (Socialist Party comprised of ACORN, SEIU, Illegal Immigrants and other disparate factions). We know that he was and is associated with ACORN and SEIU through prior employment and is an avid supportor. Remember his speech to SEIU when he told them they would be active participants in his administration? Andy Stern, formerly of SEIU, was a frequent visitor to the WH and Richard Trumka, esteemed by CPUSA, speaks to the WH every day (his own words).
The commitment by CPUSA to elect Barack Obama in 2008 and control the 2010 elections is evidenced by this direct quote from their website: “If the grand alliance that elected Barack Obama comes out in full force to vote we can stop the Tea Party/Republican takeover, continue moving forward and push further for green jobs, union rights, health care and the safety net for the common good.
President Obama’s friends and supporters concern me.
