Courthouses are not places to enforce the law against illegal alien criminals and instituting travel bans against terror nations is a violation of the law, so says a California justice.
One justice – among many – is demanding courthouses and their nearby surroundings be declared sanctuaries.
California chief justice, Tani Cantil-Sakauye, is redefining “the rule of law” to mean there must be no arrests of illegal alien felons in courthouses or their surroundings, calling enforcement a “violation”.

Courthouses are where laws are intended to be interpreted and enforced but she missed that in law school apparently.
The Washington Post article about this woman presented her unlawful opinion as if it were a legitimate complaint against the President.
The author writes:
Cantil-Sakauye used her annual State of the Judiciary address to argue that the rule of law was being “challenged” amid the administration’s immigration crackdown.
Without mentioning Trump by name, she told the state’s lawmakers that “the rule of law means that we as a people are governed by laws and rules, and not by a monarch.”
She is the monarch who wants to follow the law as she sees fit.
Cantil-Sakauye wrote a letter to the the Attorney General and to DHS complaining, repeating in a KQED interview what she wrote in her letter, i.e., that arresting these criminals in or around courts is “stalking”.
Cantil-Sakauye says courthouses are being used as “bait” and argues bizarrely that the rule of law is being “challenged”.
ICE are “stalkers” and criminal felons are “victims”.
This so-called judge wants courthouses and their environs to be declared sanctuaries so aliens report crimes. However, there wouldn’t be as many crimes, if we deported the alien felons.
“We are living in a time of civil rights unrest, eroding public trust in our institutions, economic anxiety, and unprecedented polarization,” she said. “Our values, our rules and our laws are being called into question, and all three branches of government and the free press are in the crosshairs.”
Does anyone really care if illegal alien felons are losing trust? The loss of trust and the lack of understanding of the law by the populace is what she should be concerned about. Courthouses should not be safe spaces for illegal alien criminals.
Cantil-Sakauye told legislators: “I am not saying, ‘Do not enforce the federal law.’ I am saying, ‘Please don’t do so at, or in, California state courthouses.’”
It is she who is opposing the rule of law. The rule of law means we enforce it everywhere, not where she decides it be enforced because of the absurd leftist argument that victims won’t report crimes.
Immigration and Customs show up at courthouses when they have no other option. Understand, we are talking criminals here.
Cantil-Sakauye is also opposed to Trump’s travel ban and bashed the judge who ruled in the President’s favor.
When ICE complains about sanctuary cities causing these problems, she says “that’s an admission they are stepping up enforcement activities” and “yes they are targeting courthouses” and it’s a “justification of why they’re going into the courthouses”.
What she is saying is: it makes the country more unsafe, it’s not okay to step up enforcement, or go to courthouses to enforce the law, and law enforcement is using false arguments to justify enforcing the law in or near courthouses.
The interviewer said “the courts are supposed to be above politics.”
Following the law and arresting alien felons is not politics, it’s the law.
She thinks the state courts have co-equal rights with federal law.
“It’s an indication of not treating the three branches as co-equal,” she said. “And it’s troubling to all of us to hear that, because it’s an attack on the public confidence and trust and in the judicial branch’s rulings.”
A footnote to this is she is a registered Republican appointed by Republican governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. One might guess she registered Republican to get appointed because she is no Republican.
She needs to be impeached.
