Boehner Piles on Trump, Calls His Presidency a “Complete Disaster”

John Boehner resigned the speakership in 2015 and promptly joined the board of Reynolds American Inc., the tobacco company, and lobbying giant Squire Patton Boggs as a strategic adviser.

Amazing how he cashed in on his past failure as a Speaker. This is a man who engaged in insider trading while in Congress.

He’s very happy being out of government. He says “Hallelujah” every morning with his coffee he told Rigzone during his keynote.

Apparently he was Trump’s “friend” for 15 years. Some friend.

Trump is “still learning how to be president,” he told the assembled.

“But president? I just never envisioned him in that role,” he said and also suggested that Trump not be allowed to tweet overnight.

Still, when asked what he thinks Trump’s done well in his first 100 days in office, Boehner said he’s done well with international affairs and foreign policy. In regard to national security, international leaders are thrilled to death that Trump is aggressive about fighting ISIS and getting more boots on the ground to do so, he said.

Boehner said Trump “did what he could” with healthcare, but never subscribed to the idea of ‘repeal, then replace.’ Instead he should have worked to ‘repair’ Obamacare.

“Everything else he’s done [in office] has been a complete disaster,” said Boehner. “He’s still learning how to be president.”

The left was very unkind to Boehner in office but he has no problem feeding them quotes now. TPM, for example, only quoted the line about “everything else he’s done” is a “complete disaster.”

I have met Boehner and wasn’t impressed. All you’ve heard about his fake tan, possible drinking, phoniness, might well be true.

Boehner called Ted Cruz “Lucifer in the flesh” last year because he really doesn’t like the right.

Will he never go away?
