Update: 02/16/15: Two more men have been arrested for giving shelter to El-Hussein while he was on his rampage. Its not known how much more involved they are.
Will the Danish terrorist shot after a rampage through Copenhagen this weekend be labeled a radical Islamic terrorist by our government or will it be a “random shooting” of “some folks”?
Shouting “Allahu Akbar”, 22-year old Omar Abdel Hamid El-Hussein targeted a cartoonist who “blasphemed” Mohammed and other free speech activists, policemen and Jews at a synagogue in Copenhagen this weekend during a 14-hour rampage. A bat mitzvah was being held at the synagogue. He was armed with an automatic rifle and is alleged to have a criminal and gang-erlated past. Reportedly, he was released from prison two weeks ago.Shouting “Allahu Akbar” should be a dead giveaway as to El-Hussein’s motives but not for the U.S. administration.
Mr. Obama, who is golfing and fundraising in Palm Springs, has not released a statement about the attack but he did send U.S. National Security Council spokeswoman Bernadette Meehan out to make a statement after the first shooting.
Meehan condemned the earlier shooting, calling it deplorable, and offered condolences and U.S. assistance in the investigation.
“We offer our condolences to the loved ones of the deceased victim, and our thoughts are with those wounded in this attack,” she said.
El-Hussein was homegrown terrorist who was born and raised in Denmark.
He tore into a free speech conference in a quaint Danish café Saturday where Danish Cartoonist Lars Vilks was scheduled to speak. He didn’t get Vilks and ended up killing an innocent documentary filmmaker Finn Noergaard.
He escaped and ended up murdering another a guard at a synagogue, Dan Uzan, 37, a longtime security guard for the 7,000 member Jewish community.
Five police officers were wounded during the two events.
Benjamin Netanyahu decried the attacks and announced plans to encourage a massive immigration of Jews from Europe to Israel.
Europe will lose Jews who are contributing to their society and will gain more Islamists in their place. It’s what Europe wants. Germany alone has committed to taking 30,000 poorly vetted Syrian refugees.
Even dead Jews aren’t safe from the anti-Semites. Hundreds of Jewish tombs were reported vandalized in Northern France.
Maajid Nawaz, a British Muslim, a good Muslim, spoke about the Copenhagen attacks Sunday. “So, if the appeasers of jihadism ask people not to offend terrorists by drawing cartoons, what should Jews do not to offend? Cease to exist?”
Cartoonist Vilks survived two other previous attempts on his life. Vilks had published a cartoon of Mohammed as an unclean dog. Islam doesn’t allow any portrayal of Mohammed because he is not god and it could be construed as idol worship to portray him.
Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt called the shooting “a cynical act of violence” and an “act of terrorism.”
She said the country would have to come up with new solutions to the threat of extremism.
“This is not a battle between Islam and the West, and it is not a battle between Muslims and non-Muslims,” she said, “but a battle between the values of freedom for the individual and a dark ideology.”
What does that mean? Dark ideology?
Does that mean she thinks these terrorists don’t consider themselves Islamists?
It is a battle between radical Islam and the West but that won’t be easily recognized by the PC crowd.
Mr. Obama said 99.9% of Muslims are good Muslim but even if he’s right, there are still 160,000 rabid killers out there.
Hopefully he is correct but polls point to a different percentage. In France, a poll indicated that 16% of Muslims had favorable views of ISIS. In 2006, a poll for the Sunday Telegraph found that 40% of British Muslims wanted shariah law in the United Kingdom. In 2009, a poll showed that 78% of Palestinians had positive or mixed feelings about Osama Bin Laden. Read more here.
In Muslim countries, Pew polls show high favorability ratings for limb amputation for crimes, prison or worse for gays, stoning for women who are adulterers. Views towards women who are raped are also primitive and so on.
The one thing we do know is radical Islam is on the rise.
