Democrats and Bush Were Right! There Were WMDs in Iraq!

We were told two days ago that ISIS now has control of a WMD factory with chemical weapons. This is after being told there were no WMDs in Iraq and then being told they were all destroyed by the US and coalition forces. Now that Iraq is a complete disaster, we are again being told George W. Bush is solely responsible. We are being fed lies.

There were WMDs found in Iraq as late as 2008 according to The Atlantic which went through a trove of documents uncovered by wikileaks. From 2004 – 2008, WMDs were unearthed. In 2011, Hillary admitted that there were WMDs in Iraq.

They were relatively small stockpiles, according to The Atlantic, a liberal publication.

They were supposedly all destroyed.

Now we are being told that ISIS occupied Saddam’s loaded chemical weapons facility in Muthanna, Iraq and they were in control of the weapons.

That must be a nonexistent WMD factory since George Bush was demonized for saying there were WMDs in Iraq.

The factory contains mustard gas, sarin, Tabun and VX.

The toxins are allegedly degraded and not usable. They would present more of a danger to anyone trying to use them, we are being told.

“Two wars, sanctions and Unscom oversight reduced Iraqi’s premier production facility to a stockpile of old damaged and contaminated chemical munitions (sealed in bunkers), a wasteland full of destroyed chemical munitions, razed structures, and unusable war-ravaged facilities,” an Iraq Study Group’s 2004 report concluded.

Hopefully they are not usable. The stockpiles weren’t all destroyed as we were told. What else have we not been told?

Democrats were the ones who wanted to go into Iraq, beginning with Bill Clinton. They believed there were Weapons of Mass Destruction.

They also weren’t lied to by George W. Bush, they were told exactly what was going on.

When George W. Bush finally went into Iraq, he had the support of the majority of Congress and public opinion was with him. He had formed a coalition of nations to fight Saddam.

Everyone thought Saddam had WMDs. The world thought he had WMDs.

Here are the Democrats who thought Saddam had WMDs, which it turns out he did have, and they were privy to the exact intelligence reports that Bush was privy to:

When we went into Iraq, there were no great stockpiles of WMDs but the media told the public that there were no WMDs. One thing people don’t realize is that WMDs can be put in suitcases and shipped out, depending on what they are.

The issue of whether there were WMDs was used to demonize Bush and Democrats wanted out. Democrats began to rewrite history, pretending they never supported the war or they were lied to by Bush.

Maliki and Bush

By 2005, Democrats were railing against the idea of a surge, predicting a failed war. Predicting something will happen certainly puts the odds in that favor.

Then-Senator Hillary Clinton said on October 10, 2002 that “In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members … It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons.”

Saddam was an evil man on a terrible path. He was annihilating Kurds and paying Palestinians to commit suicide bombings – $25,000 a person. There was one Al Qaeda camp found in NE Iraq when we invaded. I don’t want to reopen that argument because I didn’t want to go into Iraq though I supported Bush once he did invade.

Listen to Hillary Clinton, John Kerry and Harry Reid:

Hillary also supported the surge in Afghanistan.

Secretary of Defense Bob Gates, wrote in his memoir “Duty” that “In strongly supporting a surge in Afghanistan, Hillary told the president that her opposition to the surge in Iraq had been political because she was facing him in the Iowa primary.”

Gates found the exchange “remarkable,” and quoted Clinton as going on to say, “The Iraq surge worked.”

If that’s true, her excuse reflects more poorly on her character than if she voted for the surge because she believed in it. It shows how these people, or at least she can lie.

Getting back to Iraq, by 2010, the surge in Iraq was so successful that Joe Biden said it was “one of the Great Achievements’ of this Administration.”

We did not leave a residual force which would have been our only opportunity to control the situation in Iraq. Mr. Obama did not begin to negotiate a status of forces agreement until troops were preparing to leave. We only had one meeting with the Iraqis. He didn’t really try and Al-Maliki knew he wasn’t serious. Maliki appears to be incompetent and unpleasant but none of that mattered. What mattered for us were U.S. interests.

President Obama is a disengaged president except when he is pushing his domestic agenda which is not to promote jobs. He cannot form coalitions, relationships or partnerships with anyone. It’s an obvious pattern of behavior and we have to stop making excuses for him.

Al Maliki and Obama

Obama will do the same thing in Afghanistan. There will be no residual force.

Currently, he will do little in Iraq and he has support from both right and left to do nothing. There are no good choices, especially with Iran so heavily involved, but it was Obama who put us in this place.

Bush’s Doctrine was right or at least preferable to Obama’s which is, “Don’t do stupid sh…” according to his staff.
