Schumer Expects to Block SCOTUS Nominee for Four Years, It’s What He Does

The Democrats are railing against Republicans for blocking the Democrat Supreme Court nominee for 9 months but they blocked Bush’s SCOTUS nominee for 19 months.

Hack Chuck Schumer swore that he would not support any Supreme Court Justice nominee that isn’t mainstream. By that, he means liberal. Chuck doesn’t support any nominees from Republicans.

“It’s hard for me to imagine a nominee that Donald Trump would choose that would get Republican support that we could support,” the New York Democrat told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow in January.

Asked if he would do his best to hold the seat open, Schumer responded, “Absolutely.”

In other words, his plan is to hold it open for four years.

Schumer said Democrats are going to push for a “mainstream” nominee. He noted that Supreme Court nominees are subject to a filibuster, meaning 60 votes are necessary to end debate on the nomination.

Republicans hold 52 seats in the new Congress, meaning some Democrats would have to back Trump’s pick for the nomination to move forward.

“If they don’t appoint someone who’s really good, we’re going to oppose him tooth and nail,” the minority leader said. “They won’t have 60 votes to put in an out-of-the-mainstream nominee.”

There is always Harry Reid’s nuclear option which the GOP will use at some point.

Sen Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said in 2007 that President George W. Bush shouldn’t get to pick any more Supreme Court justices because Schumer was afraid the bench leaned too far Right. Schumer made this remark 19 months before the next president was inaugurated.

In 2006, then-Senator Barack Obama blocked Justice Alito. One of his reasons was Alito believes in an “unrestrained executive” which of course was Obama’s problem.

Ted Kennedy slimed Robert Bork with lies. He was intent on destroying Bork’s impeccable reputation because the AFL-CIO didn’t want him to become a Supreme Court Justice.

His infamous comments:

“Robert Bork’s America is a land in which women would be forced into back-alley abortions, blacks would sit at segregated lunch counters, rogue police could break down citizens’ doors in midnight raids, schoolchildren could not be taught about evolution, writers and artists could be censored at the whim of the Government.”

Joe Biden wrote the playbook for how to “bork” a Supreme Court nominee, a descriptive verb that now means to publicly pillory a nominee’s reputation to make it politically difficult for senators to vote for them.
