Dionne Warwick, Grammy-award winning singer with hits like “Walk on By” and “I Say a Little Prayer” owes the IRS $10 million dollars and has declared bankruptcy.
She actually paid the principle but penalties and interest has added up to $10 million over the years.
Ms. Warwick takes in $20,950 but averages expenses of $20,940, leaving her with $10 a month. She has assets of $25,000. She has offered the IRS and the California Franchise Board various proposals for re-payment and they’ve declined. What can I say? She’s not Tim “Tax Cheat” Geithner.
She is 72 years old. Her publicist says she is the victim of bad financial management.
There has to be a lot more to this story but if accurate, the IRS is something we should be concerned about.
The kind of help and regard Ms. Warwick is receiving from the IRS is what you can expect when you have complaints with Obamacare, which will be implemented by the IRS. You won’t have any judicial recourse however.
