Update: Speaker Boehner has been re-elected. He said he is not here to be something, he’s here to get something done. Can’t he do both?
All we have standing between freedom and statism are the Republicans. It they cannot unite to fight the onslaught of socialism, the Republic will be no more.
The fiscal cliff was yet one more manufactured crisis to force more taxes on the American people, particularly the rich, to further the socialist vision of spreading the wealth.
The taxes on the wealthy are permanent and are meant to take from the producers and give to the non-producers. The wealthy are now required to pay the federal government almost 50% of their income in taxes before state, local, real estate, and sales taxes.
Thanks to the fiscal cliff bill, Obama got to increase spending and raise taxes on everyone without doing anything about sequester.
Seventy-seven percent of US households will pay more taxes in 2013. Households making between $40,000 and $50,000 will face an average tax increase of $579 in 2013, according to the Tax Policy Center’s analysis. Households making between $50,000 and $75,000 will face an average tax increase of $822.
Middle class tax cuts were made permanent but that doesn’t mean what it should mean, given the Obamacare taxes, higher payroll taxes, and increased spending in this pork-laden bill (check out the pork below***).
The debt and deficit was not dealt with and will not be.
President Obama will not stop spending. In his speeches over the last few days, he promised more “investments,” adding that there will be more taxes when the debt ceiling comes up for a vote. He wants the debt ceiling abolished so he can spend without any limits.
This is clearly unsustainable though the markets are pleased for now. They love high taxes and printed money. Unfortunately, when markets do well, the dollar usually does not.
Markets rally when Bernanke announces a QE. Bernanke has instituted an ongoing monthly QE. We have printed over $2 trillion in unbacked dollars and will be up to $4 trillion over the next few years. When Bernanke tries to pull back, which he will eventually have to do, we will be at grave risk of inflation.
The dollar declined 2.9% this year alone. Saudi Arabia’s National Commercial Bank said the US debt burden has reached the same ratio as Italy and the US is at risk of default. A recent report recommends that Riyad move its assets from the United States to other countries.
Many countries are planning for a new world currency which will be devastating to our economy.
Obama is stripping the United States of its economic stability. How much easier it will be for him to make us into a socialist state once we have lost our economic freedom.
Obama’s biggest win over the fiscal cliff was forcing Republicans away from their principles and pitting them against each other. If the Republicans don’t get their act together, we will have a one party system run by socialists. Socialism is the path to communism according to Marx.
As Lincoln said in quoting Jesus, A house divided against itself cannot stand.
Obama has successfully used a divide and conquer tactic on every level and he has succeeded in using it with the Republican Party itself.
It is obvious that Republicans are split and it is not just liberal jibber-jabber.
I am not sure what to think about John Boehner.
Cantor et al went against Boehner but we heard little from them before. Was Cantor just waiting to see which way the wind was blowing?
Boehner has an extremely difficult job keeping these disparate groups together. I am holding off my opinion of him until Obama returns from his glorious vacation to make our lives miserable over the debt ceiling.
Republicans must get back to the principle of small government and stick with that when the next crisis comes in two months.
Obama will hold the nation’s defense for ransom over the debt ceiling. Shall they cave again because our military is at risk? Obama is betting they will.
The Republicans must stop giving in, politicizing, and pontificating. They must start making the case for economic freedom and smaller government even though Pravda serves as our mainstream media. That would be the best political move they could make.
Every few months we go through this bickering because Obama has eliminated the budget process and substituted quarterly battles that become manufactured crises. It is illegal. Why don’t they sue Obama? Do something!
Republicans must take a stand on the debt ceiling now that it is clear that Obama will cut nothing and only continue spending.
It is time to fight!!!
O’Reilly’s talking points here are on point:
Krauthammer and O’Reilly hash it out:
*** Some of the pork in the fiscal cliff bill:
- $430 million for Hollywood through “special expensing rules” to encourage TV and film production in the United States. Producers can expense up to $15 million of costs for their projects.
- $331 million for railroads by allowing short-line and regional operators to claim a tax credit up to 50 percent of the cost to maintain tracks that they own or lease.
- $222 million for Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands through returned excise taxes collected by the federal government on rum produced in the islands and imported to the mainland.
- $70 million for NASCAR by extending a “7-year cost recovery period for certain motorsports racing track facilities.”
- $59 million for algae growers through tax credits to encourage production of “cellulosic biofuel” at up to $1.01 per gallon.
- $4 million for electric motorcycle makers by expanding an existing green-energy tax credit for buyers of plug-in vehicles to include electric motorbikes.
