The D.C. elite still don’t understand the Trump phenomena and they will continue to make mistakes until they do. For example, Politico reported that a new ad Jeb Bush put out slamming Donald Trump uses stock video images from England and Asia to contrast the former Florida governor’s optimism about America’s future with Donald Trump’s pessimism about its present.
The DC elites’ Club for Growth PAC started their costly ads Tuesday to destroy Trump. The elites are also, allegedly, employing Carly Fiorina to damage Trump during the debate Wednesday. These are the same tactics they’ve been using that only seem to make Trump stronger.
Why don’t they put that energy into telling us what they will do to save the country?
The GOP still doesn’t get it. They are bewildered by Trump’s success and, to a less degree, Sanders.
I think highly of GOP pundit Charles Krauthammer but every week he comes up with a different reason for Trump’s success and he can barely get his mind around the fact that people who like Trump can’t be explained away by their lack of knowledge or low IQs.
He has been predicting Trump’s downfall, along with the rest of the pundits and the establishment for the past six months. On Wednesday Dr. Krauthammer said if Carson takes the lead from him, Trump will go after him and get desperate and he’ll implode.
It took Charles Krauthammer a long time to accept the fact that people are sick of the GOP promising change and doing nothing when they get into office. Charles’ predictions and those of the rest of the establishment are likely wrong.
Like much of the GOP, Dr. Krauthammer underestimates the importance of what Trump has to say about illegal immigration and trade deals. The politicians on both sides of the aisle have shown themselves to be more concerned about their donors than the people who sent them to D.C. and people are beginning to realize that.
People are responding to “simplicity”, Charles said. People are “bewildered and anxious”, he continued. Trump has some good simple answers such as, “your leaders are stupid,” he concluded.
I doubt people are responding only to “simplicity.” I think they are willing to overlook the “simplicity” because he’s acting like a leader and he’s firm in his beliefs. He’s also addressing issues no one seems to want to deal with honestly.
There is one thing the establishment is truly missing and that is the fact that people believe Trump will do something about illegal immigration.
We don’t have any control over who is coming into the country and we have drug cartels and terrorists coming in freely. Anyone with any intelligence knows the U.S. will one day implode.
We have GOP as well as Democrats who are open borders people whether they mean to be or not. They want to keep birthright citizenship; they talk about amnesty more than they talk about closing the border; and they don’t sound serious when they complain about sanctuary cities.
The Daily Caller reported Wednesday that Hector Garza, president of the Laredo, Texas, chapter of the National Border Patrol Council and Homeland Security representatives both warned that the people coming across the border illegally now are drug mules or they are cartel members themselves. The people coming in all come through with the help of cartels and the payment for the trip is to pack heroin.
Are these the people we want as future citizens?
Garza and DHS were testifying before the House Oversight and Government Reform.
In June, 2010, then-Governor Brewer said, “Well, we all know that the majority of the people that are coming to Arizona and trespassing are now becoming drug mules. They’re coming across our borders in huge numbers. The drug cartels have taken control of the immigration.
“So they are criminals. They’re breaking the law when they are trespassing and they’re criminals when they pack the marijuana and the drugs on their backs.”
When pressed, Brewer explained that many are simply coming to the United States to look for work but “are accosted, and they become subjects of the drug cartels.”
We have heard that said repeatedly since then and now we are hearing it again from a border agent in Laredo and a DHS representative.
Violent drug cartels help “every single illegal alien” cross the border between the U.S. and Mexico for a fee, and often the price is carrying a backpack full of heroin, according to Mr. Garza.
“Every single illegal alien that comes into the country goes through the hands of a drug cartel,” even if the immigrant doesn’t want the help, said the border patrol president.
The heroin epidemic in this country is because of these people. While it’s true that our countrymen are also to blame, many of the victims are kids who don’t know better. Nothing changes the fact that we need to stop the flood of drugs into the country. This is their prime source of entry. Heroin addiction has quadrupled in the last decade. We are on a horrendous path.
“When we talk about securing the border, it’s not just about stopping illegal immigration,” Garza said. “It’s also about stopping dangerous drugs from entering our communities and our schools and getting into the hands of kids and affecting family members.”
“Most of the drugs coming into the country are not coming into the ports of entry,” he said. “Coming across the border is the easiest way. You cannot imagine how easy it is to cross the border. You would be shocked at how open our borders are down here.”
As border agent, Brandon Judd said last week, we’d be lucky if 40% of the border was secured.
“The price for being led across is carrying one of those backpacks,” Homeland Security Investigations Assistant Special Agent in Charge Adam Parks told The Daily Caller News Foundation.
“Much of the illegal activity and associated violence on the southwest border is interrelated, given the well-documented link between drug trafficking and human smuggling/trafficking organizations,” DHS’s Southern Border Joint Task Force — West Director Robert L. Harris told the Committee.
“This lawlessness is a direct result of the drug cartels operating in Mexico, evolving into massive criminal organizations,” said committee chairman Jason Chaffetz, a Republican from Utah. An attack on a U.S. Customs and Border Protection helicopter in June “made clear the cartels have no reservations about expanding the scope of their violence on the American side of the border.”
The border isn’t secure and the agency lies about it. “We do know that the agency has a long history of what we call ‘cooking the books,’” Garza said. “They manipulate statistics, depending on their agenda.”
This is what Trump had to say about it and, yes, there was a beautiful simplicity about it.
One of the callers to Rush Limbaugh’s radio show Wednesday said he attended the Trump event in Texas and he saw quite a few Hispanics, which probably isn’t unusual for Texas. He said they were the most enthusiastic, which also isn’t surprising.
Hispanics want to be safe also. The liberals have successfully labeled every Mexican, Central American and South American as “Hispanic.” They are all from very different countries and have different cultures but the liberals use the “Hispanic” label for political expediency.
The GOP has to stop being afraid of doing what is right, though some obviously are liberal and are barely Republican. Hispanics will be behind them if they do the right thing more than they would if they continue to do nothing.
Laura Ingraham was closer to explaining the Trump phenomena than Charles Krauthammer, George Will, Megyn Kelly, Karl Rove or any of the rest of them. Trump, she said, is talking about illegal immigration.
As Laura said. people believe he will do something. “We need a movement to save this country,” she continued. Donald Trump might not be the one but it has to be someone who can lead a movement to change what has happened to this country.
People have been so burned by the establishment that they have zeroed in on immigration and the trade deals and are willing to sideline a lot of these other issues to get something done on those two. People who like Trump aren’t dumb, xenophobes, or whatever else people want to call them. They are people who want this country turned around.
We need someone with Trump emotion combined with clear policies, she said.
