EO – National Defense Resources Preparedness – A Looming Threat

One caveat before reading this, the EO is not much different from prior EO’s on the National Defense Resources Preparedness but one difference is that the definition “national emergency” is now broader and vague. There were other subtle changes that might be concerning. The EO includes all of Obama’s out-of-control agencies – they are going to have a lot of power if there is a “national emergency.” Read here: A Looming Threat

On March 16 Executive Order—National Defense Resources Preparedness was put into place. It allows the government to completely control our lives through the “industrial and technological base,” should the president declare a national emergency.

It puts unprecedented control in the hands of the Executive and it can be done at his whim.

President Obama claims this authority under the Constitution and, vaguely, “the laws of the United States,” but it specifically names the Defense Production Act of 1950. As Robert Higgs of the Independent Institute and a Freeman columnist observed, the government’s authority to commandeer the economy, which was “abandoned” after World War II then substantially reinstated with the Korean War,

Freeman Online: …was retained afterward in the form of statutory authority for its reinstatement whenever the president might so order under the authority of the Defense Production Act of 1950, as amended. . . . Under this statute, the president has lawful authority to control virtually the whole of the U.S. economy whenever he chooses to do so and states that the national defense requires such a government takeover…Please read for more detail: Freeman Online

Even if you love everything President Obama does, will you love the next President and his method of operating?

I copied one of the comments from the article on Freeman online because I don’t know who could say it better –

Comment by Carl Olson on 6 April 2012:

Rome’s first emperor Julius Caesar had his Ides of March (the 15th). President Obama has his March 16 executive order to take over in peacetime the entire economy without a declaration of war or consent of Congress. Obama really means it. He has given himself the power to be another Caesar whenever he wants.

The takeover includes your job, your purchases of everything, your business, your insurance, your energy use, your water use, your banking, your health, and so on.

The executive order’s eye-popping section 201 spells it out. Takeover of all “food resources”, “all forms of energy”, “health services”, “all forms of civil transportation”, “water resources”, and “all other materials, services, and facilities, including construction materials.”

You will lose control of just about everything you hold near and dear, including the Constitution.

Obama, at his own whim, can in peacetime without a declaration of war or consent of Congress

1. Make the price of gas go to $10 a gallon or more.

2. Boost the price of a loaf of bread to $5 or more.

3. Make insurance rates double.

4. Cut back health plan coverage.

5. Reduce pay scales.

6. Create giveaways to companies with bailouts of loans, loan guarantees, and subsidies.

7. Stop production of all goods and services that you want in order to give preference to government demands.

8. Double airline fares.

9. Break long-standing labor contracts.

10. And on and on into every nook and cranny of the economy.

When does Obama plan to spring this takeover on the public? Will it be an October surprise? An August surprise? A May surprise?

The Constitution will be smashed to smithereens along with everyone’s economic liberty. Read for yourself at Whitehouse.gov to see this 10-page cannon aimed right at you.

Don’t just read it and weep. Demand that Congress and the media do something to stop the madness.
