Power will intoxicate the best hearts, as wine the strongest heads. No man is wise enough, nor good enough to be trusted with unlimited power.
~ Charles Caleb Colton
Obama is continuously picking the laws or parts of laws he will or will not follow. As President, he has sworn to uphold the laws of the land, period.
Obama will not follow immigration law and has stated that he does not feel the need to follow the law as it concerns gun control. There are many other examples.
The most recent example concerns the Defense Authorization Act. When the Senate passed the Defense Authorization Act, they added one thing of substance – sanctions against Iran’s Central Bank.
Obama, however, with his usual good excuse, said he is concerned about global recession, and he plans to cherry pick what he will and will not do in terms of sanctions. If he believes the sanctions limit his powers, he will simply not enact the parts of the law he does not like.
The Senate approved these sanctions 100 – 0, and if Obama does not follow the law, he is ignoring the U.S. Senate, trampling the Constitution even further. No good excuse gives him the right to ignore other branches of government to empower his office.
The Senate will hopefully respond and not allow any more of their powers to erode. The U.S. is not a dictatorship. Read more here: JP Post
