The applause for the signing of the Climate Change agreement in Paris is so loud and raucous it can be heard around the world, the only problem is it is a complete farce. The only thing legally binding is the reporting mechanism and the only ones who will implement to any degree it is Barack Obama and perhaps some EU nations.
If you don’t have background information on the agreement, you can click the link at the end of this article.
Obama, the man who left the country rudderless and without a Captain, is out taking credit as a great leader.
“Together we’ve shown what’s possible when the world stands as one. Today the American people can be proud, because this historic agreement is a tribute to American leadership. Over the past seven years, we’ve transformed the United States into the global leader in fighting climate change. In 2009, we helped salvage a chaotic Copenhagen summit and established the principle that all countries had a role to play in combating climate change. We then led by example with historic investments in growing industries like wind and solar, creating a new and steady stream.
The fact is that fracking and natural gas are what reduced carbon emissions by about 20%. Solar and wind account for about 1%.
The entire deal is a sham. He insisted the word “shall” be changed to “should” making it non-legally binding. While that doesn’t mean he won’t use his weaponized EPA to ground fossil fuels into the earth and while it doesn’t mean he won’t throw more of our money away to line the pockets of terrorist dictators in Banana Republics, it does mean it’s worth no more than a plug nickel.
It’s political BS that all these leftists can crow about.
The “neutral” news media was literally jumping up and down when the faux agreement was signed. They’re fools.
One MSNBC reporter compared it to the moon landing. I guess he thought MSNBC did still have some credibility worth destroying.
Secretary of State John Kerry explained how they’d get people to follow along with this bogus agreement – by shaming like most authoritarian manipulators. “Shaming people is the most powerful weapon we have,” the totalitarian said.
Chuck U Todd asked: “There’s a lot of pledges, there’s a lot of promises. But there seems to be no mechanism for getting countries to comply other than wagging your finger at them and shaming them. Am I wrong?”
Kerry answered proudly:
“Well, that’s the most powerful weapon in many ways but it’s not the only weapon. In fact, we think more other powerful weapons. President Obama understood — and believe me, he’s been really committed to getting this done and it’s his leadership in America on our own climate action plan that give us credibility here and the president has been able to do that without that enforcement mechanism but by setting policy. Here we set policy. 186 countries came together. Each submitted their own plan for reductions according to their capacities.
We have a mandatory legally binding reporting mechanism, chuck, and that reporting mechanism requires people to retool their plans every five years in order to do more than they might be doing and meet the goal. People understand this issue. This is not a question of doing it because it seems nice or politically it’s good. It’s because it’s having a profoundly negative impact on nations. They need to respond and that’s perhaps the most compelling reason of all.”
Obama is going to set policy based on this agreement as if it were legally binding.
Last week, Governor Jerry Brown of California said, “Never underestimate the coercive power of the central state.” Heed those words carefully because that is what is going on here. They want a coercive central state for the United States and, yes, it can happen here.
