FBI Director: U.S. In Danger of Another Al Qaeda Attack

Even though we were told al Qaeda is on the run, the threat to our homeland is actually growing. Al Qaeda is spreading out and in addition they are training Americans and Europeans fighting in Syria to become jihadists. The fear is they will return to commit acts of terror on US soil.

FBI director James Comey gave a press conference and said Al Qaida was working with Westerners recruited to fight the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad. Al Qaida could be training scores of operatives to infiltrate Europe and the United States. “Americans who have joined extremist groups allied with al-Qaeda in Syria will return to the United States to carry out terrorist attacks,” Comey said.

The director of the FBI warned that the number of Americans becoming radicalized is “getting worse” with “dozens” at a time joining terrorist forces.

He said further: “All of us with a memory of the ’80s and ’90s saw the line drawn from Afghanistan in the ’80s and ’90s to Sept. 11. We see Syria as that, but an order of magnitude worse in a couple of respects. Far more people going there. Far easier to travel to and back from. So, there’s going to be a diaspora out of Syria at some point and we are determined not to let lines be drawn from Syria today to a future 9/11.”

“There’s going to be a diaspora out of Syria at some point, and we are determined not to let lines be drawn from Syria today to a future 9/11,” Comey says.

European and US intelligence communities are very concerned.

Eric Schmidtt reported in the New York Times last summer that Westerners want to join the Syrian rebellion to “help the people suffering there” but often succomb to “jihadist zeal.”

The terrorist opposition, known as the Free Syrian Army (FSA), includes Salafi militants from Saudi Arabia. The Salafis and the Partisans of Sharia (PoS), or Ansar al-Sharia, are directly connected to the Muslim Brotherhood who believe that those who do not adhere to Sharia law should be crucified.

The Salafis being used in Syria are ruthless, vicious, and primitive. They adhere to sectarianism with sheer hatred for the US.

We are currently providing arms to the opposition to Bashar al-Assad but many of them are al Qaeda.

This is similar to what we did in 1979. We equipped the Mujahadeen to fight the Soviets after they invaded Afghanistan. What we were left with was al Qaeda. Now we have Westerners being trained by al Qaeda and they will return to the US as trained al Qaeda fighters.

October 2012, immediately before the election, Mr. Obama said this:

Iran is adding to the strife in the region.

The Wall Street Journal reported late Thursday that in exchange for fighting for Syria, Iran is offering Afgan refugees stipends of $500 a month and residency permits. Iran has a satellite government set up in Syria.

Egypt is also facing an al Qaeda offensive from Afghan and Pakistani commanders. Iran is fomenting a lot of the strife in the region.
