First Amendment Doesn’t Exist for Chick~fil~A Because Their President Disagrees with Gay Marriage

Crimethink – To even consider any thought not in line with the principles of Ingsoc. Doubting any of the principles of Ingsoc. All crimes begin with a thought. So, if you control thought, you can control crime. “Thoughtcrime is death. Thoughtcrime does not entail death, Thoughtcrime is death…. The essential crime that contains all others in itself.” Crimethinker – One who engages in crimethink.

The Thought Police are now in charge of Chicago since the Chick~fil~A President voiced a personal opinion that is not what some people want to hear. Chick~fil~A President Dan Cathy is a Baptist who recently gave interviews stating that he believes marriage is between a man and a woman.

It should be his right under the first amendment to believe it and say it. That is not bigotry. The owners do not discriminate in hiring practices nor do they discriminate against customers.

Try and tell that to Equality Illinois.

According to CBS local news,

“The campaign by the group [Equality Illinois] comes just after Ald. Proco “Joe” Moreno (1st) announced plans to block efforts by Chick-Fil-A to open a second Chicago restaurant, because the company’s president vocally opposes same-sex marriage.

The campaign by Equality Illinois, dubbed “Flick-the-Hate,” urges people to sign a petition geared toward universities and malls that host Chick-Fil-A restaurants.

What happened to the First Amendment?

The family-owned restaurant has requested a meeting with Rahm Emanuel about opening the restaurant for which they have already obtained permits but Rahm is ignoring them. He told the media that their values are not Chicago values. I’m sure that’s true.

People who are opposed to gay marriage will be discriminated against by government officials.

Alderman Moreno, making political points with his constituency, said he won’t let Chick~fil~A open a second Chicago restaurant because they are discriminating against gay marriage.

Lauren Silich, who owns a Chick-fil-A franchise just off the Magnificent Mile that opened last year, wrote in a press release that she is dedicated to “serving all of our guests with honor, dignity and respect. … We alone created 97 jobs this past year and our passion is building leaders for future generations, regardless of sexual orientation or beliefs.”

Silich said she has deep Chicago roots and her husband Steve works for the city. City records indicate he’s a police sergeant.

“We hold fundraisers for hospitals, schools, fallen police, and we donate to a wide variety of causes, including everything from churches to gay and lesbian organizations,” Silich wrote.

New Chick~fil~As offer free meals for a year to the first 100 people at a new location. There were slews of young people camped out at a new restaurant in Laguna Hills, California last night before the opening. Word of a protest by the LGBT extremists forced the restaurant owners to cancel the event and disperse the crowd.

Boston officials have also condemned Chick~fil~A.

LGBT advocates are planning to keep every new Chick~fil~A from opening.

I do not believe these extremists represent the majority of LGBT’s but if they think they are winning people over to their cause this way, they are mistaken.

Protests are a sacred first amendment right, but what the LGBT extremists are trying to do is shut down free speech and all opposition to their way of life – the first amendment be damned.

What If the Tea Party Had Signs Like These?

Basically, you better say you believe in gay marriage or you won’t open shop anywhere. There is no first amendment for you. You will be silenced.

Miss California, Carrie Prejean, found that out the hard way in 2009 when she said she believed marriage was between a man and a woman, something President Obama also said at that time. Gay gossip blogger and Miss America judge, Perez Hilton, demonized the woman along with many others in the media.

When will LGBT demand that priests and ministers marry same-sex couples? It will happen.

It is not the issue of gay marriage that I am addressing here, it is the issue of a person’s right to believe in something or not believe in something.

Equality Illinois is impinging on Chick~fil~A‘s rights. They’ve become the Thought Police and the language is Newspeak.

Rick Santorum and Mike Huckabee said they are urging people to have a meal at Chick-fil-A on August 1 for ‘Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day’ in support of the company.
