Eight NATO soldiers have been killed in three days. Four U.S. soldiers were among those killed in an apparent insider shooting in southern Afghanistan on Sunday.
The shooting took place in Zabol, a southern province where U.S. forces are based, and came a day after two British soldiers were shot dead by an Afghan policeman in southern Helmand province — a stronghold of the Taliban-led insurgency.
The attacker was wearing an Afghan National Police uniform (ANP) and was also killed in the fighting, a source told Reuters.
About 59 foreign military personnel have been killed in “insider” attacks this year.
The rise in such attacks has led to the training of new recruits to the Afghan army and police being suspended.[Does that make sense to you? We're looking for NEW recruits?]
Giving a withdrawal date is the cause of this. If the Afghan terrorists thought we were staying, they would see strength. Instead they see weakness as we crawl out on bended knee and they are trying to push us out sooner so they – the Taliban – can take Afghanistan back.
We do not know who the four soldiers are yet, but there will be no images in the media of flag-draped coffins, no Cindy Sheehan.
