Chris Christie’s endorsement of Donald Trump today was timely. It shut down any gains made by his debate attackers, Senators Cruz and Rubio. The endorsement had shock and awe value. However, his past criticisms of Trump should relegate his endorsement to a non sequitur and in a normal world it would. We have four of the soundbites in which he seemed to say something quite different about Trump as a presidential candidate.

The New Jersey governor said Donald and Melania Trump have been friends of Christie’s and his wife’s for over a decade. Christie said he knows all the people on the stage and no one is better prepared to present the leadership needed in this country than Donald Trump.

Donald Trump couldn’t answer questions about policy during the debate and might have been facing scrutiny but Christie’s endorsement gave Trump the stage yet again. The media couldn’t give him enough time  Friday.

Gains made by Rubio and Cruz evaporated and both Christie and Trump used the endorsement to mash Rubio’s reputation into the ground.

Chris Christie said he believes that Donald Trump is the one candidate who can beat Clinton and the candidate that Democrats don’t want to see on the stage.

Christie praised the fact that Trump is rewriting the playbook on how to run for president.

Trump is rewriting that playbook so well that it could be an episode of the Twilight Zone.

“Desperate people do desperate things”, Christie said about Rubio, but Rubio can’t get into Trump’s head, he added.

Christie’s endorsement for what it’s worth.

On Friday, Christie said “Rubio is wholly unprepared to be president”, however, Christie said something similar about Trump in the past.

We have four soundbites that make Christie’s statements Friday look like bald-faced lies but no one will care much because it’s just politics, right?

In August of last year, Chris Christie told Greta Van Susteren that Donald Trump does not have the temperament for the presidency.

“Donald’s a great guy and a good person. But I just don’t think that he’s suited to be president of the United States,” he told Fox News host Greta Van Susteren as they walked along the Jersey Shore.

He added: “I don’t think his temperament is suited for that and I don’t think his experience is.”

Christie isn’t a proponent of building a Trump wall. He said the wall sends the wrong message. [It tells people we don’t want them here illegally.]

Here is Christie saying Trump acts like a 13-year old.

This is what people say when they have no experience and don’t know what they’re talking about, Christie said about Trump.
