The Associated Press aka Associated Pravda is rejoicing and you will too when you hear! You no longer have to be restricted to only two genders, you can now choose from more than 50 genders on Facebook.
“There’s going to be a lot of people for whom this is going to mean nothing, but for the few it does impact, it means the world,” said Facebook software engineer Brielle Harrison, who worked on the project and is herself undergoing gender transformation, from male to female. On Thursday, while watchdogging the software for any problems, she said she was also changing her Facebook identity from Female to TransWoman.
“All too often transgender people like myself and other gender nonconforming people are given this binary option, do you want to be male or female? What is your gender? And it’s kind of disheartening because none of those let us tell others who we really are,” she said. “This really changes that, and for the first time I get to go to the site and specify to all the people I know what my gender is.”
Facebook represents a person’s online identity, gushed the AP, and Facebook has taken a major step towards accepting the growing numbers of transgenders.
The Guardian applauds this as well but they want to know why people have to be restricted to 56 categories. Why not have a blank box so the person can dream up its gender identity, they ask.
Facebook is ceding to the minority on this Politically Correct issue but supposedly there is no hesitation at Facebook in doing this, from Zuckerberg on down.
When this is extended to lavatories, how safe will this be?
Fifty gender categories is totally unnecessary and it’s not normal. Some of this is insane and it both legitimizes and caters to insanity. The LGBTs are eventually going to push this into the schools and confuse children at a tender age; it’s only a matter of time. They want to grow their numbers.
This is very harmful to our society.
