This is why Glenn Beck’s media empire is collapsing.
Glenn Beck once thought Mitt Romney was the candidate who would lead us out of the lawless morass Barack Obama has buried us in but then he gave Romney a priceless, first-edition copy of George Washington’s farewell address. Beck handed it to Josh Romney, the former Republican nominee’s son, explaining that it was his personal copy and extremely valuable.
He complained on his radio show that he never got a thank you. As it turned out Romney said he never received it and didn’t know it was given to him. That was the beginning of the end of the hero worship.
During the campaign, Beck spent every day telling his audience that Romney was a modern-day George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
By 2013, he turned on Romney and was giving interviews about how he regretted voting for him, claiming he was a RINO and wouldn’t have fulfilled any of his promises.
By 2016, he was calling for a draft Romney campaign in case Ted Cruz failed to step up to the plate.
About Ted Cruz – he was George Washington too. In what he billed as his “first ever presidential endorsement,” the talk show host endorsed Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign and declared that the Texas senator is the “next George Washington” who Beck has “prayed” to find.
Of course it wasn’t his first endorsement.
In a post on his website, he wrote, “We need a new George Washington,” Beck said. “Today’s Washington will not be found in the garish light of gold, but rather, in the bold service of a man who stands tirelessly for what he deeply believes — that government should be of the people, by the people, and for the people. That is why I am endorsing Senator Ted Cruz as the next President of the United States of America.”
The breakup was messy.
In a radio interview with Ted Cruz, he was obviously upset by Cruz’s endorsement of Donald Trump who he called Adolf Hitler. After the interview, he said, “For the very first time I heard Ted Cruz calculate. And when that happened, the whole thing fell apart for me,” he lamented. “It’s my fault for believing men can actually be George Washington. It’s my fault.” …
Beck went bananas on Cruz but you get the gist.
Then there was Michelle Obama. If there ever was a female George Washington, she was it.
Beck praised Michelle Obama’s campaign speeches warning of the dangers of Donald Trump, especially her New Hampshire speech, calling it “a moment that transcended all political thought.”
He now supports Black Lives Matter and doesn’t understand why Republicans held up the nomination of the left’s Supreme Court nominee who will fulfill the left’s agenda on every issue.
He’s moved on from Michelle Obama and found his new George Washington – it’s Barack Obama.
“I did a lot of freaking out about Barack Obama,” the conservative pundit told the New Yorker in in a recent interview. “Obama made me a better man.”
We are supposed to now believe him when he says Donald Trump is unhinged. Maybe he should look at himself.
