Some government schools are now implanting IUD’s in children as young as 6th grade without parental permission. There are now 13 Seattle, Washington public high schools and middle schools that will arrange to have taxpayer-funded intrauterine devices (IUDs) implanted without parental consent.
These schools have school-based health clinics where this takes place. They offer long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs), including IUDs and hormonal implants.
LARCs have some serious side effects such as uterine perforation and infection. IUDs, specifically, can also act as abortifacients by preventing the implantation of a fertilized egg. Not every parent is okay with that but they don’t have a say.
They know best and you have nothing to say about it.
This is a perfect example of the government coming between parent and child in a way that is destructive to the relationship.
Many parents want their children to enjoy their childhood but this type of thing makes it trendy to do at a very young age.
This freebie program from the benevolent government is called Take Charge. It is a Washington State Medicaid program which provides free birth control to adults who are poor and to teens who don’t want parents to know what they’re doing. It’s the government’s way of ending teen pregnancy.
As the CNS News reporter wrote, children can’t get a candy bar or a soda in the schools but they can get IUDs.
Planned Parenthood has been pushing this but it’s the state that decides if parental permission is required. States that don’t require parental permission are: California, Connecticut, D.C., Hawaii, Maine, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Vermont, Washington. As with everything, it will creep into every school eventually unless the Supreme Court decides to jump in and make it a constitutional right.
