Let us go, God has us in our hands! Angry atheists need to let us go!
I hope everyone who celebrates Passover had a blessed Passover. In Hebrew the word for Passover is “Pesach” and refers to the time when God “passed over” the houses of the Israelites and spared their firstborn sons from being killed during the 10th plague God imposed on Egypt after the pharaoh refused to free them from slavery. “Pesach” also refers to a sacrificial offering made in ancient times when Jews worshipped in the Temple in Jerusalem.
To those who celebrate Easter, enjoy the day Jesus Christ was resurrected after suffering and dying for mankind on the cross. He formed “the new covenant between God and his people,” one of forgiveness and hope for eternal life with God.
Easter is also a secular holiday with bunnies and easter eggs celebrated by many throughout the world.
So why can’t we say Happy Easter or Happy Passover for that matter?
We can’t, you know. I have been traveling through Virginia this week and no one was wishing anyone a happy holiday so I started to ask people why. In the restaurants, stores and in the Westin hotel, the clerks said they were told not to wish anyone a happy holiday. Even if someone wished them a happy holiday, they were not allowed to wish the same. When I returned to New York, the clerk in King Kullen told me the same thing.
The woman in the Westin had the best response. She said she wishes people a Happy Easter anyway, she doesn’t care. The only reason they aren’t allowed to wish people a Happy Easter, she said, is because some angry, miserable people don’t like it and want everyone else to be as unhappy as they are. Common sense from the clerk in the Westin.
We at the Sentinel want everyone to enjoy Passover, Easter and every other religious holiday. We want to give a special shout out to former and currently-serving military to whom we owe so much. God bless you!
Quotes for Easter:
“Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures” 1 Corinthians 15:3
“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
“Passover affirms the great truth that liberty is the inalienable right of every human being.” –Morris Joseph
“Passover is one of my favorite times of the year. This is when the whole community and family gets together to remember who we are and why we are here.” — Jennifer Wagner
(I love this one) “Passover and Easter are the only Jewish and Christian holidays that move in sync, like the ice skating pairs we saw during the winter Olympics.” — Marvin Olasky
It’s all about redemption for all of us.
Religious people are one with their faith in God. Don’t let people shut us down! For those who don’t believe in God, Happy Sunday!
