What is the Salvation of a Republic if those with the charge to defend her, are in fact the ones that choose to dismantle and destroy her?

Atlas Shrugs reported:Wow, we are under attack. Back in 2004, the media went rabid when Republicans merely mentioned using the nuclear option during the leftwing putsch on Supreme Court nominations.

Democrats had abused the filibuster by blocking so many of Bush’s judicial nominees in his first term. When then-Senate Majority leader Bill Frist hinted that he might consider the nuclear option, which, of course, they didn’t, even though the issues were so much bigger and the Democrats were being typically destructive, here is what the snake Harry Reid said at the time: “If they, for whatever reason, decide to do this, it’s not only wrong, they will rue the day they did it, because we will do whatever we can do to strike back,” incoming Senate Democratic leader Harry M. Reid (Nev.) said last week. ‘I know procedures around here. And I know that there will still be Senate business conducted. But I will, for lack of a better word, screw things up.’

Fast forward to 2011. Tonight, Harry Reid imposed the nuclear option, declaring: ‘I feel very comfortable with what I’ve done.’…Here is what Reid said today – VIDEO here…”

The Hill reported:: “In a shocking development Thursday evening, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) triggered a rarely used procedural option informally called the “nuclear option” to change the Senate rules.

Reid and 50 members of his caucus voted to change Senate rules unilaterally to prevent Republicans from forcing votes on uncomfortable amendments after the chamber has voted to move to final passage of a bill. Reid’s coup passed by a vote of 51-48, leaving Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) fuming…”

From Yid with Lid: “Unprecedented! Harry Reid invents new Senate rule to prevent vote on Obama Jobs Bill. Harry Reid invented a new Senate rule tonight, its called ‘Because I said so!’…”
