Gov. Terry McAuliffe of Virginia issued a Fiat to restore voting rights to more than 200,000 convicted felons, a Democrat voting bloc, circumventing the Republican-run legislature. He claims the Civil-War law in the state’s Constitution was meant to disenfranchise Blacks but his action is purely political and just in time for the election.
Virginia is a swing state and 200,000 felons are enough to swing the election.
All felons who have served their prison time and finished parole or probation can register to vote and an overwhelming number are Black and most are Democrats.
McAuliffe claims it’s about minority rights.
“There’s no question that we’ve had a horrible history in voting rights as relates to African-Americans — we should remedy it,” Mr. McAuliffe said in an interview Thursday, previewing the announcement he made on the steps of Virginia’s Capitol, just yards from where President Abraham Lincoln once addressed freed slaves. “We should do it as soon as we possibly can.”
McAuliffe issued a blanket restoration of rights, even to those who “committed heinous acts of violence.” These are people who will help decide the direction of the country.
Only two states, Maine and Vermont, have no voting restrictions on felons and they apply to all felons, no matter what their race.
Activists are already out registering them.
McAuliffe is a longtime ally and supporter of Hillary Clinton’s who applauded his move and denied it was political. He served as Chairman of the Democrat National Committee, was co-chairman of President Bill Clinton’s 1996 re-election campaign, and was chairman of Hill’s 2008 presidential campaign. He fundraised for Hillary Clinton and once gave her a $1.5 million loan for a house.
McAuliffe is a hack.
It’s only just begun. The Democrats are registering illegal immigrants and legal residents at breakneck speed throughout the country. Barack Obama has allotted $19 million for the effort.
It will be hard if not impossible for Republicans to win a presidential election and Democrats are now Socialists. It’s not looking good for the USA.
