A newly-introduced gun bill in Illinois will require the registration of every gun, and even the purchase of ammunition will be dependent on a State registration certificate.
When anti-gun activists say they are not out to destroy the Second Amendment, they are lying. The government is planning universal gun registration and background checks. They are also intent on gun confiscation. Once the government knows who owns what guns, confiscation will be a logical next step.
Rep. Kelly Cassidy introduced the Illinois Firearm Registration Act:
“Creates the Firearms Registration Act. Provides that every person in the State must register each firearm he or she owns or possesses in accordance with the Act. Provides that a person shall not purchase or possess ammunition within this State without having first obtained a registration certificate identifying a firearm that is suitable for use with that ammunition, or a receipt demonstrating that the person has applied to register a suitable firearm under the Act and that the application is pending. Provides that the Department of State Police must complete a background check of any person who applies for: (1) a registration certificate for a firearm that was lawfully owned or possessed on the effective date of the Act, was brought into the State by a new resident, or was acquired by operation of law upon the death of the former owner; or (2) a renewal of a registration certificate unless, within 12 months of the date the renewal application is submitted, the applicant passed a background check conducted by the Department in connection with the applicant’s acquisition of another firearm. Provides exceptions. Amends the Criminal Code of 2012. Provides that it is a Class 2 felony to sell or transfer ownership of a firearm to another person without complying with the registration requirement of the Firearms Registration Act.”
Democrats pretend they want to stop criminals but all they do is try to limit gun ownership by legal gun owners.
Does anyone honestly believe criminals will abide by these laws?
President Obama said, “I believe in the Second Amendment. I believe in people’s lawful right to bear arms. I will not take your shotgun away. I will not take your rifle away. I will not take your handgun away.” In other words, if you like your gun, you can keep it. Don’t believe it!
Remember when the NRA released a DOJ internal memo titled, “Summary of Select Firearm Violence Prevention Strategies”? The memo revealed that the ultimate goal is confiscation.
The government plans to limit all importation, manufacture, sale and possession of large capacity magazines:
In order to have an impact, large capacity magazine regulation needs to sharply curtail their availability to include restrictions on importation, manufacture, sale, and possession. An exemption for previously owned magazines would nearly eliminate any impact.
The memo asserts that assault weapons are not the major cause of the gun crimes and a ban on them would have little impact, especially given the fact that it would take decades to deplete the supply.
They therefore suggest that gun confiscation is the way to go:
Since assault weapons are not a major contributor to US gun homicide and the existing stock of guns is large, an assault weapon ban is unlikely to have an impact on gun violence. If coupled with a gun buyback and no exemptions then it could be effective. [a buyback with no exemptions is confiscation]
President Obama has nominated a rabid anti-gun proponent as Surgeon General. In that office, he can skew research to prove guns must be limited and eventually confiscated.
The goal is to take our guns away but the criminals will not comply.
