Is this the time for gun control groups to be demanding we give up many of our guns? The reason they give is the attacks in Paris mean we need to reduce the numbers of guns owned by law-abiding citizens.
The Violence Policy Center (VPC) suggests the U.S. ban the sale of all “assault weapons” to civilians in the wake of the Paris attack. Hillary is among their most avid supporters.
They want “assault pistols” and “assault shotguns” banned as well. Whatever they are. The activists think any gun with a scope or a special handle is an assault weapon.
The term “assault weapons” was invented by Democrats so they can ban a category of guns they don’t like. It’s become an effective political weapon. The “assault weapon” classification is a complete myth.

In light of new concerns over terrorism, we should rethink our policies that allow military-style assault weapons to be purchased by virtually anyone — including potential criminals and terrorists. There is no reason for assault rifles, assault pistols, and assault shotguns to be sold on the civilian market. These weapons are designed with only one purpose: to kill as many people as possible in the shortest possible amount of time.
Assault weapons manufactured for the civilian market, equipped with detachable high-capacity ammunition magazines, are virtually identical to their military counterparts designed for the battlefiel…
Since France has some of the strictest gun laws in the world, it is apparent the only thing that would satisfy the gun grabbers are no gun rights. They definitely don’t understand the Second Amendment.
The anti-gun agitators want to keep law-abiding citizens from owning guns for self-defense. They are also distorting the purpose of the guns when they say the guns are designed to kill as many people as possible in the shortest amount of time.
This politically defined category of guns — a selection of rifles, shotguns and handguns with “military-style” features — only figured in about 2 percent of gun crimes nationwide before the ban, the NY Times reported.
The goal is to eventually get rid of handguns. An internal DOJ memo uncovered by the NRA shows that is their intent.
The memo asserts that assault weapons are not the major cause of the gun crimes and a ban on them would have little impact, especially given the fact that it would take decades to deplete the supply.
They therefore suggest that gun confiscation is the way to go:
Since assault weapons are not a major contributor to US gun homicide and the existing stock of guns is large, an assault weapon ban is unlikely to have an impact on gun violence. If coupled with a gun buyback and no exemptions then it could be effective.
Videos have been released in several countries warning of an ISIS attack. In the last three days, there have been two videos directed at the US, one threatening DC and another threatening New York. We need our guns as our leaders make us less safe!
