Investigator Says He Was Told to “Stand Down”, Seth Rich’s Family Denies Report

Seth Rich’s parents, Joel and Mary.

News broke Tuesday that Seth Rich’s family hired former D.C. detective Rod Wheeler to investigate their son’s murder and his findings corroborate that of an unnamed federal investigator who said Rich did leak the DNC emails to Wikileaks. There is information out from Rich’s parents that contradicts some of the story that even as Wheeler told the press he was advised by police to stand down.

Seth Rich’s family accepted the services of former D.C. detective Rod Wheeler and agreed to let him investigate their son’s murder, but they did so on the proviso he not speak with the press.

Wheeler told FOX 5 DC on Monday there is tangible evidence on Rich’s laptop that confirms he was communicating with WikiLeaks prior to his death. It might not have been a robbery after all.

It is two weeks shy of the one-year anniversary of the DNC staffer’s murder which police say was a failed robbery attempt. There is no evidence it was a robbery according to the story. However, there had been a series of armed robberies in the neighborhood and Rich’s body was bruised which could have been the result of him fighting off his attacker(s). The expensive watch Seth was wearing had a torn watchband.

Rod Wheeler

Fox Reports:

Wheeler, a former D.C. police homicide detective, is running a parallel investigation into Rich’s murder. He said he believes there is a cover-up and the police department has been told to back down from the investigation.

“The police department nor the FBI have been forthcoming,” said Wheeler. “They haven’t been cooperating at all. I believe that the answer to solving his death lies on that computer, which I believe is either at the police department or either at the FBI. I have been told both,” Wheeler told Fox.

There is a question about which laptop they are talking about. The Washingtonian reported that Seth’s brother Aaron has Seth’s laptop and it has never left his side. Rod Wheeler said he examined the deceased’s computer and told Fox he made contact with the major hacktivist group, Wikileaks.

It is alleged his point of contact was Gavin MacFadyen, a now-deceased American investigative reporter and director of WikiLeaks who was living in London at the time.

Investigators were told to STAND DOWN according to Fox5:

When we asked Wheeler if his sources have told him there is information that links Rich to Wikileaks, he said, “Absolutely. Yeah. That’s confirmed.”

Wheeler also told us, “I have a source inside the police department that has looked at me straight in the eye and said, ‘Rod, we were told to stand down on this case and I can’t share any information with you.’ Now, that is highly unusual for a murder investigation, especially from a police department. Again, I don’t think it comes from the chief’s office, but I do believe there is a correlation between the mayor’s office and the DNC and that is the information that will come out [Tuesday].

The family rejects the story, denies they hired Wheeler, and said the following in a statement [The family does want the murder investigated and had been raising funds for the investigation]:

“As we’ve seen through the past year of unsubstantiated claims, we see no facts, we have seen no evidence, we have been approached with no emails and only learned about this when contacted by the press. Even if tomorrow, an email was found, it is not a high enough bar of evidence to prove any interactions as emails can be altered and we’ve seen that those interested in pushing conspiracies will stop at nothing to do so. We are a family who is committed to facts, not fake evidence that surfaces every few months to fill the void and distract law enforcement and the general public from finding Seth’s murderers. The services of the private investigator who spoke to press was offered to the Rich family and paid for by a third party, and contractually was barred from speaking to press or anyone outside of law enforcement or the family unless explicitly authorized by the family.”

Whatever the case, we hope that this family gets answers and the conspiracy theories are put to rest one way or the other.

  1. .if the dnc had refused to allow the FBI to inspect their computers/servers to determine the source of the hack, then that in itself clearly demonstrates that the dnc was up to something that they didn’t want the FBI to see and possibly reveal. My guess is that they were afraid that the FBI would discover the source was NOT the Russians–thus ruining their narrative about Trump being in cahoots with the Russians

  2. Isn’t it strange the family says nothing of the fact their son had transfered over 40,000 emails ?

with all due respect for those people who lost their son, what they are saying sounds a bit too much like something the DNC or some democrat would say…it is a bit too convenient that use the occasion to remind us emails could be doctored ( as if they use the occasion to remind us Hillary is not guilty or that the Podesta emails were doctored to make democrats look bad )

and why do they even talk about fake news? are they reading from a telepromter some text the DNC asked them to read?

They don’t sound so much like parents who want to know the truth, to me they sound more like they are using this to help the democrats.

Maybe I have too much imagination but maybe the democrats paid them to say those things

I swear it sounds like they are lobbying for democrats.

    • They are democrats and just like Libya Ambassador Stevens’ family, they don’t want to go against the party. Seems like the party has already spoken to them.

  3. If the Clintons had Seth Rich murdered , and so far it seems very possible and very plausible, then this explains why Hillary had her staff destroy with hammers all the devices she used even after she had deleted tens of thousands of emails.

and why in that bizarre video where she complains she is not 50 points ahead of Trump, she says they ( democrats ) may all end at the end of a rope.

    it all makes sense now.
