In retaliation for an Israeli drone strike in Iraq that killed a dozen Iranian and Hizbollah operatives, Iran has promised to attack Israel from the West Bank, The Times of Israel reports.
The Israeli air strike, according to The Jerusalem Post, was either to disrupt an imminent attack planned by Hezbollah and Iran or a routine interdiction of a Hezbollah convoy that inadvertently killed several Iranians and a member of a prominent Hizbollah family.
Deputy head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Lt. Gen. Hossein Salami vowed Saturday to “open new fronts [against Israel] and change the balance of power.”
“Opening up a new front across the West Bank, which is a major section of our dear Palestine, will be certainly on the agenda, and this is part of a new reality that will gradually emerge,” Salami said in the inteview with Iran’s Arabic-language news channel al-Alam.
He is going to arm the West Bank against Israel, he said.
Israel sent a message via Moscow after the attack that they did not intend to start a new war with Hizbollah and Iran.
Israel is bracing for a response.
Iran is the leading sponsor of terror in the world and they have been arming Hamas and Hizbollah for years.
Will Obama bring it up to Iran or decide to meet with Netanyahu when he comes to the United States? By never mentioning any of this in his talks with Iran and by not meeting with Netanyahu, he is sending a message. Iran is reading it correctly.
