Mar Benham, a 4th Century monastery in Mosul, a center of Christian pilgrimages, has been seized by ISIS/ISIL. The monks were forced to leave on foot with nothing but the clothes on their back, leaving behind the relics of saints.
Sixteen hundred years of history are now gone as ISIL jihadists ransack and destroy the monastery. It’s not only the monastery, it’s every Christian and all vestiges of Christianity.
President Obama has made no statements about the pogrom against Christians. He condemns some events but carefully avoids the topic of genocide.
ISIL has called for the destruction of all churches. Their agenda is anti-Christian hate and the establishment of an Islamic caliphate.
The only Christians left in Iraq are those who could not afford to flee. Hundreds of thousands have fled Iraq. Militants control banks, mineral resources, all trade, and all buildings and homes.
There are no Christians left in Mosul for the first time in 1600 years.
Local residents said monks at the Mar Behnam monastery were forced out of their 4th Century monastery, allowed to take only the clothes they were wearing.
The Mar Behnam monastery is run by the Syriac Catholic Church and is a destination for pilgrimages.
“You have no place here anymore, you have to leave immediately,” the militants were quoted as telling the monastery’s residents said a member of the Syriac clergy.
The unnamed clergy member said that monks had begged with the fighters to keep some of the building’s relics but their demands were refused and they were ordered to leave the monastery on foot.
The Baptist Press reported Catholics are being slaughtered but so are Muslims who object to strict Sharia law.
Father Khalil Jaar, who is in charge of refugees who reach Jordan said, “All the people are suffering. But as we are a minority — minority Christians — it is normal to suffer more than others. But even the Muslims are suffering from these fanatic people,” Jaar told CNS. “They don’t have mercy on anyone, Christian or Muslim. The only answer they have is to kill them.”
Vatican sources published the e-mail correspondence of a Dominican friar in the area, who told his superior the situation was “critical and apocalyptic.”
“They murdered adults and children. Hundreds of bodies have been left in the streets and in the homes, without any mercy,” the Dominican friar wrote in his e-mail.
If not killed, the remaining Christians will be forced to pay a “dhimmi” which is a Mafia-style protection tax. The punishment for not paying the tax is death. In addition to the tax, there will be many other directives such as not being allowed to practice their faith in public, not being allowed to build churches or restore old ones.
Christianity is facing certain death in Iraq and Obama doesn’t say a word. Would it be too hard to believe that this Muslim Brotherhood sympathizer in the White House is not terribly concerned about those who hate Christianity and Judaism murdering Christians and Jews?
Baptist Press quoted Evangelical minister Elijah Abraham as saying Barack Obama saw ISIS as the enemy of Assad and gave the group money and arms to overthrow Assad.
“ISIS is an extension of Al Qaeda. With American funds, now ISIS is killing Iraqis and planning to go for Baghdad and Iraqi Shiite shrines to settle an old score,” Abraham wrote in an email to the Press. ” Since 2009 with President Obama’s policies in the Middle East, there has been a systematic cleansing of Christians in the Middle East.”
The expulsion of Christians from Iraq is the death knell for Christianity in the region. They can no longer flee to Syria. Obama had a hand in that when he declared Assad must go. He also made certain the U.S. had no presence in the region, refusing to meet about the status of forces agreement until U.S. Forces prepared to leave, afterwards only meeting once.
ISIS/ISIL/IS is no longer a terrorist organization, according to top U.S. officials, it’s a full-blown army. It is Al Qaeda, only much worse.
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS or ISIL) “is al Qaeda… it may have changed its name, but it is al Qaeda. In fact, it is worse than al Qaeda.” Brett McGurk, deputy assistant secretary of state, told lawmakers at a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing. President Obama is doing nothing about it.
Iraqi Christians beg the Western world for help:
President Obama is busy with fundraisers.
