John McCain’s Latest Absolutely Terrible, Awful, Rotten Assault of Trump

Alleged Republican John McCain is always ready to give Democrats some nasty soundbites against Donald Trump in exchange for a photo-op. His latest attack on Trump is absurd and shows his ignorance of the Constitution. He claims this week’s manufactured crises are of “Watergate size and scale.”

“I think it’s reaching the point where it’s of Watergate size and scale, and a couple of other scandals we’ve seen,” the Arizona so-called Republican said Tuesday night at the International Republican Institute’s 2017 Freedom Dinner, according to CBS News.

Partisan drone Bob Schieffer interviewed McCain who received an award at the event.

As if that isn’t bad enough, McCain apparently doesn’t give two hoots about the illegal leaks. In fact, he had quasi-praise for the leakers.

McCain on Tuesday night said the president is dealing with a pretty smart lawyer, noting that Comey distributed the memo to others.

The rumors are that a Comey aide leaked to the New York Times.

All of this was spurred by a memo the day after Flynn submitted his resignation in February.  Trump met with Comey in the Oval Office and said, “I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go. He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go.”

If true, and we don’t know if it’s true, all that says to most of us is Trump felt badly and wanted to see Flynn spared any more grief because we all know the reason for the assault on Flynn was to get at Trump.

Liberal law professor Jonathan Turley, in an op-ed for the hill, wrote, that there is no proof for impeachment or obstruction of justice and it is nothing like Watergate. Nixon committed a crime, Trump has not so far as we know.

Impeachment doesn’t require a crime but what we’ve heard so far falls well short of Impeachment, he said. It isn’t even close to high crimes and misdemeanors.

If the president did what he is accused of [that’s a big IF] it’s “breathtakingly dumb” and “inappropriate” but that’s all it is, Turley continued. It’s “silly” to think they could impeach him.

“Absent tapes, it’s only a he said, she said”, Turley pointed out. “…we need to move beyond the hyperventilated pronouncements of criminal conduct or impeachable offenses based on this memo. This conversation in the Oval Office is a valid matter of concern and worthy of further investigation. It is not proof of an impeachable offense any more than it is proof of a crime.”

There’s not much they can charge Flynn with either, Turley said.

FLASHBACK: Let’s all recall when Obama slipped and gave out the name of the Afghanistan CIA chief or the time Joe Biden gave out the name of the SEAL unit that killed Osama bin Laden. That was followed by the shooting down of that same unit on Extortion 17.

McCain is absolutely right and if the GOP wants any sort of future for their party, and more importantly this country, they will speak out against the ineptitude of the Trump administration.
