Lebanon’s government now includes Iran-tied Hezbollah

The Lebanon Parliament overwhelmingly voted to form a unity government allowing the Iran-tied terrorist group Hezbollah to hold two seats.

This came after debate about their priorities for the year.

The 128-member assembly approved the new Cabinet 87 to 4, with one abstention. Only 92 members attended the session.

Most of the country’s political parties are included in this unity government.

Hezbollah wants more land from Israel

Hezbollah is a staunch ally of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and continues to fight alongside his forces in Syria’s bloody civil war.

During the month-long Second Lebanon War in 2006, Hezbollah fired around 4,000 rockets at northern Israel, killing 43 Israeli civilians. It is estimated that Hezbollah now has an arsenal of around 100,000 rockets at its disposal with a range covering all of Israel. Israeli military officials also recently estimated that there are around 10,000 Hezbollah positions, including infrastructure and armaments, placed within around 200 villages and towns along the Israeli border, The Tower reported.

In November, upon election, President Aoun pledged to “release what is left of our lands from the Israeli occupation.” Despite the UN-verified Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon in 2000, Hezbollah claims that land it calls the Sheba Farms, known in Israel as Har Dov, is Lebanese territory.

The only thing that will satisfy Israel’s enemies is the complete destruction of Israel.

Ten years after Israel and Hezbollah fought a bloody but inconclusive 34-day war, the Lebanese Shiite militant group has been transformed.

Hezbollah is now a regional military power, a cross-border strike force, with thousands of soldiers hardened by four years of fighting on Syrian battlefields on behalf of President Bashar al-Assad.

Israel says the Hezbollah troops have been trained by Iranian commanders and funded by Tehran. They are well-armed.

Hezbollah has gone from guerrilla warfare to forming a conventional army.

The world for our ally Israel is far more dangerous, thanks in part to Obama’s feckless foreign policy. All of this exposes Obama’s treachery at the U.N. as all the more heinous.
